Last week as we entered Rushhour we saw two guys just leaving the recordshop. Turned out they just dropped off a stack of the latest Lazersword CD’s. We briefly checked some tracks and the Tea Leaf Dancers Low Limit Remix really was the winner for us. Too lazy to run after them for a copy, we decided to just email them for the tracks, but we never got a reply.

Like Al Johnson and Jean Carne we back for more with a brand new Midas Hutch! The smooth undercover lover has done it again and I bet the ladies will be slippin’ and slidin’ across the dancefloor as soon as they hear Don’t Wanna Be Rude (which vaguely reminds me of The Deele). Shout out to Nalden for the heads up.

We just found out that Midas Hutch is a character created by producer FS Green (half of the Mixin Monthly crew). Inspired by great soul, disco and funk artists like Midnight Star & the Gap Band he decided to bring back that boogie and with the help of a vocoder he took it to the next level…thus Midas Hutch was born. We’ve been told that you are going to hear more of this funked up alterego very soon! Oh and thanks to Brian Elstak for the artwork..

Yes yes, much obliged Kenny Fresh from Fresh Selects! A brand new track from the lovely Stacy Epps produced by Georgia Anne Muldrow. I heard the instrumental version a while back, but Stacy really blesses it nicely with her voice. Motivation comes from Georgia Annes’ upcoming album on the ePistrophik Peach Sound label with Dudley Perkins. The second song Deep was recorded in 2005, never got released and was produced by the one and only MF Doom. I was just going through some older stuff I had lying around and came across this Gumbo album from last year. The artist, Brenk from Vienna, born Branko Jordanovic, is one of Austria’s hardest working beatmakers. Now eventhough the album wasn’t that amazing and was released last year, we still found two tracks entertaining enough to share with ya’ll. Ole Woam is a very nice deep and spacey track with a great little vocoder chorus and Don’t Stop is also kinda fly. Sad to say that the rest of the album wasn’t on the same level. These same two tracks also came out on Melting Pot in the form of the Beat 45 #2 single. I love the whole idea behind that concept and I have to say the AFTA-1 release is the best of the series so far!
