This one here is for all my peoples in Rotterdam who get to enjoy the Soul Brotha #1 tonight @ club WATT. Sorry I can’t make it personally, but to the other Moovmnt members…tear the roof off that mothaf*cker.
Now not everybody is gonna get this, but I grew up with this music and let me tell ya’ll that Focus did a great job on making this sound like an old Pete Rock joint! Homage to Pete Rock makes me go back to ’93 when HipHop was just a teenager and luckily MC’s Big Pooh, Sha Stimuli & Kurupt back up this dope production with some ill ass lyrics. Thanks 2dopeboyz for the audio!

Finally, the first tracks of Muhsinah‘s The oscillations: Triangle. It’s been a minute since we saw something new from Muhsinah..and Triangle is shaping up to be one of our ’09 favorites.
The oscillations is actually a 2 disc LP; disc one being Sine, which actually was Daybreak 2.0, and that wasn’t new to us. So we’re glad to share these two tracks with you…enjoy..

Onra clears out the beat shelf, as his 1.0.8 LP finally gets an official release on Favourite. In some serious bonus beat business, here’s more proof that when it comes samples, this Parisian one-man powerhouse can chop like Zorro and flip like Daley Thomson: Are You Satisfied, also starring Pursuit Grooves and Fatima…
Recorded at the 2008 Red Bull Music Academy in Barcelona, Onra flips a few organ chords on this one, pitching the ground sheet for Fatima and Pursuit Grooves to build a tent big enough for us all to take shelter under. Round it off with some operatic harmonies and you’ve got a glittering basement gem that half of post-Dilla Detroit would be fricking proud of…
And Onra is currently collecting together more of his esoteric beatrumental grinds, so watch out for projects to come later this year…picture by mr mass..RBMA

To prepare you for the full EP released on March 16th check out the excellent Can We Call It Love featuring the heavy soul of Istanbul’s Ahu (Dolly). Sound Species was formed by brothers Henry and Olly Keen, who where drawn to creating sounds and melodies at an early age, fast forward a few years and various journeys through dj culture, electronic music, Herbie Hancocks back catalogue and a slew of other talented musicians and the Sound Species band was born.
In 2003 Henry was introduced to the infamous CDR night, run by Tony Nwachukwu and Gavin Alexander. This gave the group a valuable platform to develop their sound and forged a relationship between the group and the CDR/Burnt Progress label.
You can catch the group playing live at the Tate Modern on March 6th alongside Dorian Concept. Full EP available to supporters…. the album follows on April 13th. Cop Dorian’s “When Planets Explode” HERE.

The originator has returned. I remember when Georgia Anne Muldrow was the only one who actually sang like she sang. Her unique sound and way of singing was soon emulated by other female vocalists. Georgia Anne is back under her production alias Ms. One. On her brand new album, titled Ms. One, she introduces several new artists like Illict Child, Darryl “D-Moe” Moore and Maryette Moore. The album is like a collection of tracks produced by Ms. One and recorded together with her ePistrophik Peach Sound crew. We recently brought you the lovely Motivation (featuring Stacy Epps) from this same album and we just had to share two more tracks, cuz we love this album.
Divinely Free is a beautiful song by Jimetta Rose and Dudley Perkins. Personally I think this is one of the best tracks on the entire album (21 tracks is your money’s worth). The second track 2 MC’s features Black Milk and Rapper Big Pooh who tear this 1.41 minute track to bits. Gotta say what’s up to Kenny from Fresh Selects who beat us to the punch. Go get the Ms. One album on iTunes now or pre-order it HERE. In stores April 7th so mark that calender if you want that shiny disc!
