AFTA-1 did it again. For GAS’D he put together a mix full of ▲❍▼❏ and you’re a fool if you don’t download this beautiful collection of moments right now. Nice to see that unreleased Muhsinah track produced by Flying Lotus on “Love Is Real Vol. 4: Vessels Behind A Moment”. We simply love the first draft of “7th Sun”, which is sounding off the chain! I heard we can expect more melodic goodness from AFTA-1 soon..
The months following the release of Love is Real Vol. 3 have again affirmed everything that GAS’D, myself and everyone else in the universe living for Love, truly believe in. We are all vessels, placed on this planet to create. Blessed with the freedom to choose our medium, true fulfillment lies in carrying out our calling to its fullest extent. Which is ultimately done, one moment at a time. One Now at a time.
We must choose to act in the present without limiting ourselves by the thought of tomorrow. Give our today our everything. Create at our peak for the only time that matters, NOW. Fulfilling our divine calling while fulfilling our life through love.
This is a collection of moments. Every one of these tracks has been the soundtrack to my life in many key moments throughout my journey. Including very recent ones. As this mix itself was created in a moment. One sleep-free night, three days ago while simultaneously finalizing it’s closing track. “7th Sun,” a rough draft of the most recent work for my upcoming album. So it’s only right that we also drop this mix at a moment’s notice.
Without further a do, Enjoy this collection of Love sounds old, new, and in-between from some past LIR favorites, some good friends, & hopefully some artists you may not have heard before. And of course, you know how we set the vibe…Dim the lights, light one up and float.

The sun set on a former steel town as The first family of soul rose to fame. The Jacksons churned out hits with Motown’s Corporation. With the help of hitmaker songwriters and producers, Michael Jackson charted his own destiny. Filmmaker John Landis created a monster with Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Wah Wah Watson spoke a new language with the rhythm guitar. Producer Bertram Brown kept righteous reggae alive in Greenwich Farm. New York DJ Nicky siano made an art of mixing records. TOKiMONSTA, the official first lady of Brainfeeder shows us that the current beatscene won’t be dominated by men only. TOKiMONSTA (Jennifer Lee) born and raised in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, was an unfocused pupil of classical piano. However, she has come to use this background to create vast textural soundscapes by utilizing live instruments, percussion, digital manipulation, and dusty vinyl. Through the creation of beats, she is able to fuse the sounds of the past with current music sensibilities into something advanced all while preserving old school vibes. Her live performance is exciting as well as astounding intricate using a laptop, drum pad, MIDI controller, and an analog Roland SP 404. She is fearless and energetic having performed with the likes of Flying Lotus, Daedelus, Nosaj Thing, Gaslamp Killer, and many other of her fellow beat makers. When we heard that Dam-Funk was coming over, MRP and me decided to get our funky strutt on and mix up a little Boogie/Funk mix. Enjoy these twentyfive minutes of pure, unadulterated Funk and get in the mood for Dam-Funk’s European tour. Our friends at Strange Fruit loved the idea and so we suggested this mix was to be used as a promotional mix for the Strange Fruit presents: Dam-Funk event, held on October 10th in Rotterdam. Thelonius & Lucky Dubz will be sound providers for the rest of the evenening so come one, come all and get ya boogie on! Deluge…thanks a million for the the artwork and peep the flyer (by Lucky) and tracklist after the jump.

Electric Wire Hustle are a New Zeland based band and have just released their new, self-titled EP. The group consists of David ‘TaayNinh’ Wright (multi-instrumentalist and producer), Myele Manzanza (drums), Mara TK (vocals/ guitarist / turntabilist / producer) and Benny Tones (sound engineer and producer). Developing their own sound and twist on modern hip-hop, psychedelic and soul, the music of EWH reaches forward while referencing key points of music’s past. Thick drums and percussion layered with synth lines, hints of the Fender Rhodes and nylon stringed guitars have your neck snapping while your ears crane to its soulful vocals … a future soul sound that fuses Marvin Gaye, Charles Mingus and Funkadelic with the likes of J Dilla, PPP and SA-RA Creative Partners.
On the album there are some guest appearances by artists like Georgia Anne Muldrow, Stacy Epps, Declaime (aka Dudley Perkins) and guitarist Billy TK. Check out the “Perception” video after the jump and BUY their album if you like what you hear. Big ups to Ray Knowledge for tipping us off…
