The delightful Dutchman, who goes by the name of Frits Wentink, released his “Rarely Pure, Never Simple” album quite recently via WOLF Music.

His debut LP consists of a bag of samples, chunky percussion and vocal additions from miss Loes Jongerling out of Utrecht. It is a somewhat bizar and at times ear-opening ride into a dim world of Deep House, Lo-Fi grooves with elements present of Jazz and even Hip-Hop. His experimental approach to both hardware and instrumentation, makes his sound one of a kind. Vocal songs such as the title track are rather soulful and downtempo. While other more uptempo cuts like “Glints” bang from the word go, they slowly drift into a more jazzy state of being as the track progresses.

Frits Wentink resides in Amsterdam, but I soon came to learn he is rarely to be found in our small country. Although he is not new to the game, we at Moovmnt learned about Frits Wentink as a result of our ‘Werk Space’ project.

All in all we find his debut to be a super versatile album full of wondrous tones and harmonies. We could only find a buy link to the double LP vinyl, but I’m sure it will be available digitally shortly!
