Chris McClenney Peace Visual Vibez Selfless
15.09.14

Chris McClenney is at it again. This time he ‘Selflessly’ donates the track “Peace” for Visual Vibez‘s non-profit project. Earlier today Chris announced his goal to move out to Los Angeles before July 15th next year. And I’m very sure young Chris McClenney will reach his goal for the world is his oyster.

Two weeks ago Singularis (aka Frank de Bruin) from the Netherlands dropped his track “Shadows“, which is also on the “Selfless” project. I wrote a nice piece on Okayfuture in case you would like to read more about that.

Please make sure you make a donation to support art & music. This time all proceeds go to Playing for Change Foundation.

Amin Payne & Ben Bada Boom‘s “Collision” album gets revisited by an impressive line-up of producers from all over the globe.

What we have here is ten brand new sounds of which nine are remixes and one is a bonus track. In case you were wondering who is part of this remix orgy, here’s the list. We have Dutch producer Moods (Darker Than Wax) holdin’ it down, French producer Evil Needle (HW&W/Soulection) and last, but definitely not least German die hard (with a vengeance) Suff Daddy (MPM) bringing the Funk. Other names on this remix project are Submerse, Elaquent, Chief, MFP, Melodiesinfonie and Budamonk.

Cascade was kind enough to give us an exclusive premiere of Amin Payne and Ben Bada Boom’s upcoming project. And don’t forget where you heard Suff Daddy’s funkadelic remix of “Uturn Meon” first! Pre-orders are available so get your 12-inch vinyl, cassette’s or digital freak on. P.S. the track is now available for free download!

Submotion Orchestra 2L84U
18.08.14

Submotion Orchestra is a 7 piece band from the United Kingdom. For those that don’t know, they play a fusion of bass heavy Electronica, Jazz and Soul music and a whole lot more. And they play it quite well.

They’ve received worldwide recognition and have played festivals around the world. Following their previous two albums, Finest Hour and Fragments, Submotion Orchestra return with “Alium“, which will be released on Counter Records on November 3rd.

The album was written over two years in the remote Welsh countryside and miss Ruby Wood’s vocals sound nothing short from angelic. On the song “2L84U” she simply sounds amazing and more good news. It’s a free download! Pre-orders are available (2xLP vinyl, CD & MP3) via Ninja Tune for you early birds.

photay astro nautico
04.08.14

Photay aka Evan Shornstein is a producer hailing from Woodstock, NY.  His artist name is a nickname he picked up while studying music in West Africa. The local African kids would point at him and his American friends and started yelling “PHOTAY, PHOTAY, PHOTAY!”. At first he had no clue what the word meant, but he later found out that it means white person in the native dialect of Guinea.

During his six month stay in Guinea, Evan not only picked up his artist name. He also learned how to play Djembe (hand drum) and Balafon (marimba-esq instrument). Now there’s two singles online, “Reconstruct” featuring Seafloor and “No Sass” (available for free download). These will give you a good impression of the music Evan makes, but make sure you visit his Soundcloud page for more music. His upcoming self-titled album will be out August 26th on Astro Nautico.

introducing the code
02.08.14

UK producer duo The Code from the UK have been coming up through the ranks. They draw inspiration from Fleetwood Mac to James Blake and everything in between. When it comes to the creations of The Code, there are no restrictions. The future of R&B kinda looks like this I guess.

Their deep infectious track called “9.46” is uplifting and makes you want to get down low and dirty. Another track “Natural” taken from their debut EP “1/11“, was premiered on i-D a few days ago. The elusive pair will release their debut mid August so stay tuned!

Pomo Only You Free Download
31.07.14

Canadian producer Pomo has been on our radar for a minute, but his brand new track “Only You” is something we just could not keep from you.

Pomo recently did a nice remix for London’s Snakehips, but what few people know is that he’s 1/2 of the duo Nouvel Âge. Me and the homey B. Bravo were going nuts over their “Let Me Know” which has quite the subtle homoerotic feel to it (perverted minds I guess). Anyway Pomo is releasing an EP via L.A.’s label HW&W soon, so get ready to be amazed by his clean ass electronic funk sound. I really love hearing this kind of music in clubs, so DJ’s ya’ll better recognized. Download his new track right here!

Maxwell Ascension Aywy Sh?m Edit
29.07.14

Aywy and Sh?m aka Shem Questionmark are both part of the new generation of beat makers. They have both been on our radar for a while, but I think it’s about time we told you what’s going on. These two gentlemen got together (online) and created this futuristic funky flip of Maxwell‘s classic “Ascension“.

Aywy, who’s from Sydney, is co-founder at Flow-Fi. From what I’ve heard a collective of producers that joined forces and now are making some power moves. Sh?m resides in London and is signed to everyone’s favorite label from Singapore…Darker Than Wax. Although normally I’m not the biggest fan of edits and remixes, I’m pretty damn sure their Maxwell edit is going to blow up a few dance floors across the globe. And what a great news that it’s available for free download!

Hobo Truffles Presents Ode To Delia Melodiesinfonie
21.07.14

Hobo Truffles is a worldwide producer collective and netlabel founded by Robot Orchestra and Shuffle Jack.

With their latest “Ode To Delia” compilation they pay tribute to Delia Derbyshire and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. In addition to the sampling aspect, they incorporated the Radiophonic Workshop’s overall approach towards creating and manipulating sounds. In the late 1950′s the members Radiophonic workshop crafted beautiful futuristic sounds with the use of tape-recorders, by cutting up individual notes and manipulating the sounds in various ways. Laying the foundation for rudimentary sampling techniques with very limited equipment.

Melodiesinfonie from Zurich drops the winning track “Galactic Wellness“, but please be sure to check out the rest of the free downloadable compilation as well! Ain’t nothing wrong with a batch of laid back beats to max out to.
