One of the best things about this job is connecting people from all over the globe. Last year I connected my friend B. Bravo with the homeys from Goodnws in Jakarta.

This year, together with Sindhen Apps, they have invited San Francisco funkster Teeko. It seems he will be coming through fresh on some having fun shit, straight from the West. Catch Teeko’s first ever performance in South East Asia. Jakarta to be exact!

For all the fans Teeko created some “Jakartafunk” just to let you know the party goin on March 20th at Hide and Seek SCBD. Get that free download and enjoy some futuristic Funk flavor.

I remember Sir OJ being one of the most promising Dutch producers in the game. Together with guys like FS Green and Full Crate they had the Internet goin’ nutz.

Now many years and many new music trends later, we find Joris on that Electronic music tip. His previous single wasn’t really our thing to be honest, but on his latest endeavor “Directions“, he calls in the help of Cody Chestnut. More importantly Jarreau Vandal is on the remix duty and let me tell you it sounds outlandishly good and really reeks of originality. The kid has been blowing our minds lately and here’s one Soulection member who is not standing still, but moving forward, sideways and upwards all at the same time.

Tonight we’ll be checking out Jarreau at the Soulection night at Voyage Amsterdam at the Melkweg. Esta, Sam Gellaitry, Evil Needle and the Whooligan will be showing their skills, so come all.

Any of you wondering what to do with NYE? Well I’ve got an idea where my homies in Frisco are going to be gettin’ down. Opolopo & Amalia are going to be playing at the SOM bar at the legendary Sweater Funk party. Really wish I could be there, but not gonna happen. Good news is that Opo and miss Amalia made a song called “Sweater Funk” especially for the occasion. Even better news is that it’s available as a free download on Opolopo’s Soundcloud page. Get yourself a ticket if you plan on going or just snatch that download!

As warm up for the Red Bull Music Academy 2011 in Tokyo, UK Garage legend MJ Cole will be doing a free RBMA workshop during Amsterdam’s 5 Days Off event at Club Up (March 5th). A second artist might be confirmed later, but more info on the event on Facebook. All musicians can apply for this years RBMA untill April 4th, so don’t hesitate and fill out those forms!

On another note…MJ Cole is about to release his “Satellite” EP after the weekend and we just had to give you guys a little sneak peak in the form of this preview. Really liking this mellowed out Dubstep joint “Hawaii” with those subtle harp melodies we know to be his trademark.

Today would’ve been Dilla‘s birthday and it’s hard to imagine it has been almost five years already since his passing? Still Dilla‘s legacy lives on in many ways. Not only did B.Kyle release his “Still Shining” documentary…there’s more. Ma Dukes and The J Dilla Foundation recently announced the winner of ‘The International J Dilla Tribute Art Contest’. Our love for vinyl runs deep and over the past 17 years I personally have been digging for the black crack. So when a good friend of ours Osmanology asked us to be involved with this vinyl only event in Rotterdam called Analog, we were naturally down. Vinyl might seem outdated to some, but when you hear a song being played from vinyl at a venue with great speakers you’ll understand why a lot of DJ’s still prefer using it. The sound is so much richer and warmer. Back in the days you’d go through stacks and stacks of records, in search of that one record you’ve been looking for for ages. Nevermind the dusty fingers…it was part of the job. Nowadays a simple Google search suffices for most.

Videographer NaNo shot and edited a sick ass promo video for the December edition of Analog at Rotterdam’s best record shop…Demonfuzz. It really shows that vinyl is so much much more than a carrier of sound. It’s a way of life, it’s fun and it’s crazy sexy. Come check out the next edition of Analog December 4th at Beat Burger in Rotterdam.

The third edition of The Gardens is a special one. Our friends Full Crate & FS Green have recently released their Hi-Hat Club Vol. 5: Eggs And Pancakes album on Melting Pot Music and this needed to be celebrated. I’d like to thank the guys from Cologne for last weeks release party in Germany and this Friday it’s time for the Amsterdam release party at the Bitterzoet. Not only will you be hearing the album through some bad ass speakers, but there will also be a limited amount of vinyl available for a special price. So come on over to support and get loose.

Manga & Crate decided to put together a blend of some soulful stuff for you and yours and behold…the The Gardens: November Nicess blend was a fact. You can either listen to it via Mixcloud or download it directly. Remember to visit us every 1st Friday of the month…hope to see ya’ll this Friday!
