Sometimes life is so simple. You find a place you love, an environment you feel at ease and almost call home. That’s the place I visit at least once a week and it’s called Black Gold. Besides one of the best coffee’s in town, they offer a nice selection of vinyl records as well.
When I was asked to play some records last weekend for their Saturday Sessions, I said yes immediately. Now those that know me, know I don’t call myself a DJ, nor do I have any desire to be one. I do however have a lot of records I never get to play out. So I thought to myself what better to get some of these beauties a spin, while bringing a smile to people’s ears at the same time.
I love spreading good music that is not often played, so all in all I think we can say missions accomplished. Brought black gold only and whipped out some 45’s, I had never played before. Kept it soulful with a touch of Jazz, like I always do. Really hope you enjoy part 1 and who knows we might upload the rest in the weeks to come.

A few months ago we were asked to drop a guest mix for the Red Bull Studios Amsterdam, but honestly we did not have the time. One of my closest friends happens to be an expert in new electronic-based music, so I suggested Blue to create something special.
As I suspected the result is a 44-minute ride into music you didn’t know you wanted to hear. No big names, no major label stuff, just plain ol’ digging. Blue’s taste in music is impeccable and he has gained maximum respect in the Dutch electronic music scene. Those that matter know about Blue and respect his fresh selection and precise way of blending everything together.
Years ago he moved from Italy to Amsterdam to pursue his dreams in music. Blue’s a resident at both ‘Rock The Boat’ and ‘Voyage’ and I have yet to see a crowd stand still when he’s on the decks. On the low he has been working on his own productions, but in 2016 he might let some loose on the world. For now he is strictly about providing your ears with unheard treasure, so make sure you follow Blue on Soundcloud!
Even though we had some minor difficulties at first, we managed to create two hours of special for you guys and girls. The first hour is my selection of personal favorites ranging from BJ The Chicago Kid, Idesia, Queen Magic, ESKA, Tuxedo, Farnell Newton, Earl Sweatshirt, Moods & SIAM, James Chatburn & Jordan Rakei, Flako, Frits Wentink, Henry Wu and many more.
In the second hour our good friend Blue goes deep like the mind of Minolta. Enjoy music from JR Jârris, Masego, Abhi//Dijon, Obey City, Jengi Beats, Tynethys, Gravez, Jarreau Vandal, Elhae, Midas Hutch, Shay Lia, T.a.y.l.o.r., Amin Payne, Jasper Staal, Alexander Lewis and many others.
Next show will be a blast, since it’s my birthday and I’m inviting a few friends over to celebrate on the show!
We thought we’d start with a clean slate…hence show #01. Give us a few more shows to really get back into the flow. We missed a queque here, talked too much there, but we are loving every minute of it. It was so much fun and we can’t wait until the next show. Kick back and enjoy two hours of that good stuff.
Moovmnt Guest Mix 14 was created by one of my favorite Soulection DJ’s (ever). The ever so blunted cutie pie miss Kronika.
This Philippina DJ from Los Angeles has been reppin’ the Soulection team since day one. And I’m glad she took some time out of her busy schedule to create a wonderful mix for us/you. Now I’ve known Kronika for a while and am happy to call her a friend. She has collected music from all over the globe and even got some Dutch producers in the mix (I see that Singularis track and Jeftuz remix).
I’m very grateful to have music selectors like Angel (better know as Kronika) as friends and can’t wait to meet her later this year when I visit Los Angeles once more. Check out her Soundcloud page if you wasn’t doing so yet.
The enchanting miss Sojuju from the Netherlands has been on our radar for a hot minute. This young lady has gathered a collection of heartfelt and touching songs and carefully crafted them into 34 minutes of bliss. It is with great pleasure that we present to you Moovmnt Guest Mix 12. Mixed and selected by young lady Sojuju who represents the Flow-Fi collective.
Strangely Sojuju is the very first female guest DJ we have ever had. I guess this series needed a feminine touch and perhaps the next guest mix will be by the hands of another lady. What’s up Kronika? Are you game?
Kick back and enjoy this lovely guest mix. A special thanks goes out to Duktus for droppin’ some good looking artwork once more. If you like what you hear, please hit the repost button and grab a free download to maximize the fun.
Glenn Astro & IMYRMIND are two German producers that have been making thunder this year. Some of our favorite remixes are coming out of Germany nowadays and to be specific out of Max Graef’s Box Aus Holz camp.
The duo released their “Box Aus Holz 09” EP last week and let me tell you it’s really something else. High end soulful House music that’s well worth your money. We will be getting into this release more later this week though, so stay tuned!
For now kick back and enjoy this 50 minute guest mix Glenn Astro & IMYRMIND made for us and if you like what you hear, please show some love and hit the repost button. Thanks Duktus for delivering fine artwork again. Oh and in case you were wondering, this one is available as a free download.
Next Saturday The Foreign Exchange (Phonte & Nicolay) will be performing in Amsterdam. We thought it would be an awesome idea to squeeze all of our favorite FE related songs into one 50 minute mix.
In our opinion this mix is a great introduction for anyone to get to know The Foreign Exchange. At the same time it’s a recap for the die-hard fans, who’ve been enjoying their music for a decade. Grab a free download of ‘The Foreign Exchange Moovmnt’s Favs Mix‘ or just enjoy it on Soundcloud.
FYI…The Foreign Exchange will be performing at People’s Place (Amsterdam) October 4th, 2014. We’ll be hosting the event so don’t be shy and come enjoy some incredible music with us. There’s still some tickets left, so get yours right now!
Sir David Sivey from Manchester has been making quite some noise this year. Not only as a solo producer, but a few months ago he gave birth to a collaboration with Evil Needle. The “Constructive Interference” EP was released on Soulection in June and is a fine piece of work. What some of you might not know (yet) is that Sivey is also one hell of a DJ.
He has done a couple of crackin’ mixes, like the one he did for SSENSE. Now we’re quite excited to present you with Moovmnt guest mix number 10. It took a little while, but all good things are worth waiting for. Many thanks to Sivey and also to Duktus for the sweet artwork.
The most humble person I have ever met is without a doubt the Italian stallion…DJ Blue. Combine this with the fact that he has deep-rooted passion for music and you might understand why DJ Blue is such a dope DJ.
Blue grew up in a tiny village near Venice (Italy), but decided to take a leap of faith and move to the big city of Amsterdam a few years ago. Music was the reason for him to leave the comfort of his hometown and start a new adventure. He gets acknowledgement from the heads, but has yet to reach the reconition he truly deserves. With his latest “Low End > High Pass” mix, he takes a big step in the right direction.
Stream “Low End > High Pass” and follow DJ Blue while he takes you for a ride, sharing his most beloved electronic sounds of the moment.
