Jonah Christian
13.09.15

Jonah Christian is a producer, composer, arranger and musician from Los Angeles, California that some of you might know about already.

He happens to also be one of the co-founders of a band name Joomanji, who’s music was featured on BamaLoveSoul’s compilation album “On Deck” 2. On this lazy Sunday afternoon, Jonah returns with a brand new track titled “Walk On” featuring the enchanting Joanna Borromeo and Austin Antoine.

We are giving away this lovely song as a free download on Soundcloud and in return we would like to ask you to show some love by following Jonah Christian on Soundcloud, hitting that Repost button or leave a nice comment.

Oskaar starRo
10.09.15

Oskaar is an electronic soul producer/singer living in Berlin, who recently released his new single “Never Met You“. In his own words Oskaar says: “the song is about pure resignation – feeling so hurt and devastated by a break up that all the negativity outweighs all the good things the two of you’ve shared in the past, and you truly feel that you wish you’ve never met this person. And feeling this, in turn, makes you feel even more sad.”

The song was turned into an elegant, mesmeric video through a collaborative effort featuring photographer/creative director Daniel Bolliger and performance artist/model FavelaPunk. The result is a stark, arrestingly minimal meditation on the bondage of shattered affection – call it a simple vessel embodying the knotted complexity of the human love condition. In other words you need to watch this video.

To top it all off Mouthwatering Records called in the help of Soulection’s starRo to deliver an amazing remix and the moment we heard it we were excited to premiere it exclusively via Soundcloud. And great news! It’s available for free download for a limited time, so make sure you spread the news and grab this freebie.

El Train
08.09.15

This summer LA-based singer/songwriter Miki Rose and Brighton-based producer El Train got together to work on their five track “Over & Over” EP.

They first collaborated on the track “Control” back in January and when Miki was visiting the UK in May, the two decided to get in the studio to record some music. They managed to flesh out 4 or 5 demos in one day and after a couple of months sending files back and forth they finally managed to settle on five tracks that would form the basis of their new EP.

Jamz Supernova premiered “One Step Closer” on BBC 1Xtra last month and we are very happy to bring you the title track “Over & Over”. The full EP will be available September 18th via Shimmy Records, so keep it locked.

James Chatburn Creator
07.09.15

James Chatburn is an Australian soul singer, songwriter and producer who’s music we have played on our radio show before. He brings that Aussie soul mixed with electronic feels and can easily be added to the list of artists that have a similar sound to Electric Wire Hustle.

For his latest single “Creator“, Chatburn teams up with Jordan Rakei who co-produced the song with him. Written last year, this particular track was geared to be part of an EP. However it was decided that James Chatburn would release a series of singles instead, starting with “Holiday Love” (another collaboration with Jordan), followed by “We Drink” featuring Frank Nitt and produced with Dizz1.

James recently made the move from Sydney to Berlin to work on his craft, so we advise you to see if you can catch him play somewhere. His nu soul flavor is exactly the type of music we love to write about, so please enjoy this exclusive site premiere. Make sure you ‘name your price‘ and pay what you seem fit for this sultry summer track on Bandcamp.

Potatohead People All The Way
31.07.15

One of our favorite Canadian production duos, Potatohead People, have returned with a follow-up of their “Big Luxury” album. This features instrumentals, remixes and one new, unheard bonus cut that didn’t make the album.

Thanks to our friends at Bastard Jazz we gladly premiere this previously unreleased track “All The Way“. So much to say about this beautiful boom bap Hip-Hop banger, but the simplicity makes it really stand out. Love the combination of the silky rhodes, sexy female vocals from their friend Vanessa and random rhymes by Potatohead People themselves in the background. Oh and happy birthday Nate. Hope you had a wonderful day yesterday!

Pick up “Big Luxury: Instrumentals, Remixes & B-sides” containing a bunch of instrumental versions, “All The Way” and two remixes from Exmag and Noo-Bap.

Inkswel Super Foods 2
06.07.15

The funky brotha from down under, Inkswel, has recently released Volume 2 of his retrospective Super Foods series on BBE (Barely Breaking Even). Super Foods Vol. 2 gives you a good idea of Inkswel’s credentials as a producer of ‘Dance’ music. On it he ventures into the realms of Modern Funk, House and even Techno.

Feast your ears on the track “Saturated” featuring Isaac Aesili and Charli James. Inkswel made the beat on a friends MPC whilst on tour, then sent it to Isaac, who was touring Europe himself at the time. Isaac recorded the entire song on his iphone and in addition the lovely Charli James added some backup vocals. It was originally released on vinyl via Burek Records and is one of our favorite songs on Super Foods Vol. 2.

Good news…you can grab a free download right here!

Patchwork
30.06.15

Yung money baller PATCHWORK aka Koen Hesp out of Haarlem, came down to the Red Bull Studios Amsterdam to join us for our ‘Werk Space’ project. The ZenSupremacy producer invited his label buddy Chef Red and recorded a gang of new material.

The instrumental version of “So Far” was also birthed during his visit to the studios and was supposed to have singer Danny Cainco from Dallas on vocals.
Sadly he was unable to record the vocals on time due to technical difficulties.

Later this week we will have Rotterdam beatmaker Giorgio Oehlers join us in the studio. He will be the second producer out of the Darker Than Wax camp to represent, but best believe you will come to discover, love and respect many more talented Dutch producers. Please grab a free download and be so kind to check out more music from PATCHWORK.

Much love to Serena Indigo (artwork), Joao MB Costa (shot & cut) and Lexflex81 (logo design). Could not have done this without you all!

Pat Van Dyke Buscrates
19.06.15

Last week we got the honor to premiere a DJ Spinna’s remix for Pat Van Dyke‘s track “Two Sides”.

Today Pat and Cotter Records let loose another remix from “Technicolor HI-FI” record and this time it’s sir Buscrates 16-Bit Ensemble out of Atlanta, Georgia who takes the track “Walk It Off” to funky town.

Buscrates’ Funkdown remix can be exclusively streamed via on Soundcloud page, but you might as well pick it up right away at Pat’s Bandcamp page. When you pre-order the limited edition 7″ vinyl, you will get an immediate free download of the Buscrates and DJ Spinna remix. The rest of the remixes you will receive on June 30th.

For those that find vinyl records vile and disgusting, you’re in luck. The 10-track digital release can be pre-ordered separately (for the same price, minus shipping). You must either hate wax or be an idiot not to pick up the limited vinyl (300 copies) while it’s still in stock.

SRE
14.06.15

Encapsulating the WotNot ethos perfectly, London-based producer SRE‘s (also know as Sex Rules Everything) music is fun and soulful. It presents its own fresh take on House, with a Hip-Hop soul burning beneath the choppy 4×4 beats.

So far only appearing on WotNot’s Dancefloor Sweets Vol.1 compilation (which also features IMYRMIND, K15 and Glenn Kelly) and the annual WotNot Advent calendar, SRE’s low-slung, sexy house rhythms are perfect for deep club vibes or Sunday afternoon headphone sessions. This release serves as further foreplay, with a longer, nastier session set for release in 2016.

Stay tuned for the “Purple Cotton” EP to drop June 19th.
