By now you must be well aware of the fact that Danish producer Galimatias is one of our favorite producers. Admitted the list is long, but still c’mon son. Together with 20 year old miss Alina Baraz from Ohio, he’s been making music/magic for a while now. Rarely do musicians compliment one and other, but in this case it’s a match made in heaven.

Their new song “Fantasy” is just as described. It’s nothing short from a tiny miracle that flows fluently through your earholes like the sweetest whisper imaginable. At first sonicly playful and fairytalelike, but when the song comes to maturity so does the sound. Simply put an amazing work of art of Alina Baraz and Galimatias’ forthcoming ‘Urban Flora‘ EP (which I’m already in love with). Oh and Matias, please start sending it over bruh.

For those that don’t know, Wavefiles is a party in Amsterdam that is setting the trend. In the past they have brought artists like fLako, Stwo, Samiyam, Om Unit, IAMNOBODI, 813 and Chloe Martini to the Dutch capitol. And now it’s Evil Needle‘s turn to strut his stuff. The next edition will take place tomorrow at OT301 with local support from Jarreau Vandal (Soulection) and Sojuju (Flow-Fi).

Luck has it we are giving away some tickets. So if you and a friend would like to go, click this link and follow the description! For those that are not so lucky to be able to catch Evil Needle’s show at Wavefiles, don’t worry. Enjoy his track “Antidote” of the last Soulection compilation.

You might remember French producer Fulgeance, who’s been getting into producing House music lately. He does so under the name Claude together with Darius Broobecker.

Fusing that filthy Disco Funk sound with some serious Chicago House rhythms is what these Claude does best. On this project Darius is the digger,  who comes up with samples. We are delighted to exclusively premiere the track “Damn Thang“. Get ready for some dance floor winners served in a typical French way.

Their EP called “Solid” is to be released via Musique Large October 6th and contains seven solid tracks. Limited vinyl copies (100 only) and pre-orders are available, so get it in!

So lately I’ve been discovering a lot of new artists from all over the globe. The duo Penthouse Penthouse from Los Angeles is one of them.

The name Mike Parvizi has been poppin’ up a lot lately and so I started connecting the dots, when it comes to who’s friends with who. And which people collaborate with one and other. Together with Preston James from TeamSupreme, Mike is Penthouse Penthouse. Mike is a bass player and allround music head, while Preston is a trained keyboardist/vocalist and playback engineer who graduated from Chapman University’s Conservatory of Music.

Last week they released their new EP entitled “Besides“, which was written and recorded in Downtown Los Angeles. Our favorite Penthouse Penthouse track is “Last Stop” featuring JNTHN STEIN, but to be honest the entire release is straight fire! Oh and that joint with Stwo is a good runner up if you ask us.

Machinedrum is one of the most versatile producers I’ve heard in the world of electronic music. And the best part is that he constantly keeps evolving his sound.

Gotta give huge props to sir Travis Stewart for his brand new single “Only 1 Way 2 Know” of his forthcoming album “Vapor City Archives“. Constructed around his vision of an imaginary city with fully-realized districts, the year-long Vapor City project was founded upon Machinedrum’s critically acclaimed sam-titled album. This final installment sees the Machinedrum deliver 10 brand new, exclusive productions breaking all barriers of electronic music.

November 14th is day Machinedrum’s new album will release, so till then purchase the single and pre-order some 2xLP vinyl as you desire in the Ninja Tune shop.

SBTRKT‘s sophomore album “Wonder Where We Land” is one of those highly anticipated albums. It’s due to come out tomorrow, but quite honestly it’s not half as good as his self-titled debut album.

Of course “Temporary View” featuring Sampha is a killer track, but that’s about it. Couple of features from the likes of Jessie Ware, Raury and Ezra Koenig. Sadly not really our cup of tea I’m afraid. We did however manage to find one track that stood out and we thought it was well worth the mention. Enjoy “Everybody Knows” and do check out the album releasing on Young Turks for yourself. Who knows it might be right up your alley.

A couple of days ago I quickly download Freddie Joachim‘s new “Leaves” EP. For some reason I just did not get around to giving it a proper listen. Until now.

Let’s not be too picky, for this project has been made available for free download by Mellow Orange. As we celebrate or dread the annual transition from Summer to Autumn, Freddie Joachim provides the perfect soundtrack. Nice little Kool and The Gang remake, but for us “Wait” is the winning track! Head on over to Freddie’s Bandcamp page to pick this one up for free and enjoy the last days of summer.

Principal Dean is an analog-obsessed, melodically-rich producer from Burlington (Vermont). He’s been on a steady diet of making music for quite a while now and is inspired by Soul music. His own style is perhaps best described as melodic Trap music with a funky soulful twist.

His upcoming “Air” EP will out via the French label Cosmonostro with the release date slated for September 29th. We’re super excited to exclusively premiere the title track, so sit back and enjoy the ride. Make sure you share your findings and follow Principal Dean on his social media sites. Also head on over to the Cosmonostro Bandcamp page to pre-order this release.

At the beginning of the year James Vincent McMorrow from Dublin released his album “Post Tropical” via Vagrant Records. It is said that on a pecan farm half a mile from the Mexican border, the album on which he wrote, produced, and played virtually every instrument on, was recorded in three and a half weeks. It took over eight months to to construct of course and James really wanted to give this record the feel and movement of the hip-hop records that he loves.

Now we had never heard of this Irish singer/songwriter, but after having heard Atu‘s remix of “Glacier” we were baffled beyond believe. Such an amazing, melodic piece of music that cannot be boxed into genres. Perfect piano play combined with James Vincent McMorrow’s soul piercing vocals creates instant goosebumps. Really hope to hear more collaborative efforts in the near future, because these guys are like peanut butter and jelly!

Stream their breathtaking song below and follow James Vincent McMorrow on Soundcloud.

Chris McClenney is at it again. This time he ‘Selflessly’ donates the track “Peace” for Visual Vibez‘s non-profit project. Earlier today Chris announced his goal to move out to Los Angeles before July 15th next year. And I’m very sure young Chris McClenney will reach his goal for the world is his oyster.

Two weeks ago Singularis (aka Frank de Bruin) from the Netherlands dropped his track “Shadows“, which is also on the “Selfless” project. I wrote a nice piece on Okayfuture in case you would like to read more about that.

Please make sure you make a donation to support art & music. This time all proceeds go to Playing for Change Foundation.
