Can’t really remember why we never posted about Detroit’s Marcellus Pittman, but we failed to do so up till now. Thank god we always have these Slept on Sundays to bring it back, re-discover and bump to “Razz 09” in this particular case. No method to my madness…just straight random picks. You have yourselves a sunfilled Sunday with lots of good music.

Yesterday I played some Rare Groove Soul stuff at the North Sea Jazz Club (Amsterdam), but found myself playing for an empty venue. Often the best music gets played before it gets crowded. When the people started coming in, they had missed all these little gems I’d been spinning. So I grabbed the first 8 songs and put together a quick mini mix for everybody who missed out last night (being the entire world). Took the liberty of uploading it to Mixcloud so go ahead and stream, share, download and love.

Oh No created an entire album based on samples from Rudy Ray Moore’s Dolemite soundtrack. It’ll be coming out June 5th on the Five Day Weekend label and is exclusively available at the Stones Throw store. Some pretty big names on here such as MF Doom, Evidence, Jose James, Erick Sermon, Phife Dawg, Sticky Fingaz and more. Might be an interesting one for you to peep..

Yesterday my man Dean High from Deventer hit us up with this wonderful “Raw Take’s Minimix” volume 1. Together with The Monopunks he recorded some niceness and here is a preview of more to come. Not much more info at the moment, but I’m sure you’ll be hearing more in the future. Snatch the free download while it’s up and enjoy!

Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie are back with their new “Wasser” EP. Honestly I’m in need of a little water at the moment, because summer seems to have started here in Amsterdam. Very nice 4 track release on Soulection on a ‘name your price’ basis. Listen to “Stiller See” featuring miss Soia below and download the EP over at their Bandcamp page please.

The homie Suff Daddy is about to slap you upside the head with his third (and probably best) album already. This weed smokin’, gin drinkin’ motherf*cker from Berlin has really outdone himself with “Suff Sells”. Big up to David for really evolving musically and stunning me with not only the drunken boom bap beats we’ve grown so fond of, but also with his wide range of influences. I hear a lot of Jazz, Soul and Funk influences which are really working well I think. One of the most impressive jams on here is of course “Det2bln” featuring Phat Kat and Elzhi, so listen to a little preview. Album drops June 1st and is available digitally right now. Both vinyl & CD can be pre-ordered on his Bandcamp page as well.

Waajeed has been blessing the world with previously unreleased material for quite a while, but when we heard he was going to put this “Deep Inside” remix featuring Sa-Ra Creative Partners out there, we were psyched. This particular Belle Isle remix was on a PPP mix CD, they had sold at shows and features Selan on the boards. We’d like to thank Jeedo for deciding to put this one out there for everyone to enjoy.

Long before Moovmnt even existed there was plenty of good music to go around. One of these wonderful songs was sent our way by Mr. Sousa from Rotterdam earlier this week. To be honest I had never heard of House of 909, but after having heard “The Blandford Superfly” I’m glad I now have. Right here we have a beautiful mix of soulful House, Jazz and Funk which you will undoubtably love! The single is availble on The Blandford Superfly - Single - House of 909 in case you were wondering.

To celebrate their ninth birthday, Jazz re:freshed decided to cobble together some of the better recorded tracks from over the past years as a free downloadable gift to say thank you. Not only do these recordings capture the spirit and passion for the music that the Jazz re:freshed patrons have, but they also give you a good idea of what the vibe and energy is like at these Jazz re:freshed nights. They named the album “Prelude” because they have upgraded the sound system at the venue and are now able to record bands at a much higher quality. Making this album a prelude to their Jazz re:freshed Live Series which is coming soon. Now here’s a music night in London we will definitely be visiting during our next visit.
