LA based producer/singer/songwriter Seven Davis Jr. is soon to release his debut solo EP, entitled “One”, on Must Have Records. Remember our previous post a few years back with J.Mitchell? Think smooth vocals, rough & rugged club beats with a twist of summer time. Davis’ EP is gonna be out on 12″ vinyl and he is supposedly also working on new project with Funkineven. Listen to this exclusive stream and stay tuned for a buy link!!

When the entire country you live in is experiencing a heat wave, the first thing you do is hit the beach hard of course. In between I thought I’d do a quick post about Quadron‘s latest “Avalanche” album. Enjoy and live the good life..

By now you must know we have nothing but love for fLako’s alter ego Dirg Gerner. With each release he seems to get better and better and on his newest “Dirg Gerner” EP, he exhibits his wonderfully warm vocal talents once more. This release is out on 12″ vinyl via Eglo Records and is delicious from beginning to end. My copy is already waiting for at Rush Hour, but I suggest you be quick about getting yours too!

This time around we have producer duo Nangdo & Koen from Groningen, the high north of the Dutch low lands. You must have heard their music on the site in the past. If you haven’t, I suggest you get hip to it. Many thanks for supplying us with another free downloadable Moovmnt guest mix and shout out to Duktus as well.

After a seven year hiatus, Omar is back with “The Man”. A very solid Soul album if you ask us with quite the collection of gems on it. Of course you already heard a Shafiq Husayn remix and a brand new version of “There’s Nothing Like This” with Pino Palladino on bass. We picked “Fuck War, Make Love” to get you in the mood for this funky piece of art, out now on Freestyle Records. Make sure to purchase your copy if you dig!

It’s not often that we are super excited about artists, but it happens now and again. The super trio King was one of the last bands that really caught our attention. Get ready to fall in love with another trio (Max, Andris, and Amber) that goes by the name of Moonchild. They all met at USC where they studied jazz performance. After touring together as a horn section in 2011, they began co-writing and recording their first album “Be Free”, which they released this April. We almost missed out on this amazing band, but luckily the homey Blue tipped us. Earlier this month DJ Jazzy Jeff and James Poyser remixed the title track, which is available as a ‘name your price’ download. Very happy there’s still some musical gems out there to be found!

You might have already heard a couple of singles of Eric Lau‘s brand new musical endeavour, “One of Many”. We wanted to wait until the right moment to post, because the rest of the album is freakishly good. This is one of the few times that the rest of the album is even better than what you’ve heard so far. London’s top ranked producer (Mr. Lau) teams up with top notch singers Tawiah, Rahel, Georgia Anne Muldrow and miss Fatima on his fourth full-lenght album. The result is some pure awesomeness and straight up quality all recorded at London’s Par-lé studios! Mind you…this masterpiece will be available on double vinyl for the real fans (of Eric and wax) and can already be pre-ordered on iTunes.

One of my favorite newly born labels is Quieres Chicle Records, started by KCRW’S Mathieu Schreyer, based out of the always sunny California. They released a wonderful new Leon Ware record and are soon to release some new music by Bobby who is “More Than Just A Friend” to Robin Hannibal. More info about this soon, but for now just enjoy and let it soak!

Los Angeles’ bassist/songwriter/vocalist Stephen Bruner, better known as, Thundercat is gettin’ ready for the “Apocalypse”. His style is best described as a mix of indie rock and jazz, with a touch of electronic soul. On his second album Thundercat pairs up with executive producer Flying Lotus and goes deep into styles we aren’t really into. However we are diggin’ the imrpov recorded “Seven” a lot, so decided to post this one. Might be a killer album for some, so make sure you take some time to check it on iTunes.

Hong Kong’s J-Hoon released “Favorite Line” off his debut solo album “Noodles” and asked us if we would like to premiere Opolopo‘s remix. Of course we said yes. This free download is being released independently in Manila & Hong Kong and features Phatkhat (no not the one from Detroit). Favorite Line displays the sentiment of reminiscing the ‘good old days’ and accepting that nothing lasts forever. Stemmed from a jam session in Manila during an Opolopo gig, “Favorite Line” remix was orchestrated by Opolopo, taking the sentiments and emotions of the song to a whole new level.
