I remember we almost slept on Alton Miller‘s “Light Years Away” album a few years back. Now this fine piece of work gets ample play over at the crib though. Back then we posted two amazing songs, but for some reason not “Come On Over” (which in my opinion is one of those songs that should be heard as well). Tell me this isn’t the perfect ‘nothing-to-do’ music for on a Slept on Sundays such as this one. For everyone who still haven’t bought this one, please visit Light Years Away - Alton Miller and give it a proper listen. You’ll thoroughly enjoy it!

Two of Japan’s most respected hip-hop labels, Jazzy Sport and Origami Productions, decided to team up and launch a collaboration album between local Japan heroes Gagle (DJ Mitsu The Beats, MC Hunger & DJ Mu-r) and the Ovall instrumental band led by producer and bassist, Shingo Suzuki. If you’re into soulful Japanese Hip Hop, I guarantee you’re going to love this new “Gagle X Ovall” album. The guys get a little help from UK Soulstress Shea Soul on “Heaven”, but for the rest it’s an all Japan affair. Make sure you visit GAGLE×Ovall - GAGLE×Ovall for some of that digital niceness!

You might remember Leon Ware’s latest release on Quieres Chicle. Well the label’s second release, from Opera singer Orfeo, is due to release today and is produced and co-written by none other than Robin Hannibal from Quadron. They recorded both songs on the single (of which the soulful downtempo “Quiet Nights” is our fav) in Los Angeles. Get the 12″ over at Juno (soon).

I came across this new Breezy Lovejoy album via master teacher Shafiq Husayn today. Breezy is a drummer/singer from Los Angeles and it seems he released a couple projects on his bandcamp before his new “Out Of Body Experience Vol 1”. The first single of this album entitled “Sadie” really did it for me. I suggest you download the album for free over here..

For some reason we never posted about Bilal Salaam‘s wonderful “Blah (Time Between Asleep And Awake” album that came out in 2007. While doing this month’s Glimmering Fractions mix, I pulled out “So What” from the same album and decided to play the whole thing again. It was kind of an underground classic at the time, but leaked in EP form under the name “Noohustle” a year earlier if I remember correctly. Many of you might have this one on lock, but I bet there’s a lot of you that have yet to discover this lovely piece of Soul music. Get yours on Blah(Time Between Asleep and Awake) - Bilal Salaam or head on over to Bandcamp for higher quality files. Perfect Slept on Sundays material if you ask me!

We’re cutting it close again, but right on time as usual. This month’s “Glimmering Fractions” mix is full of soulful goodness for your ear. And since I was chilling on the beach in Barcelona, there wasn’t a lot of time left. So I decided to cut this one a little short, but don’t worry…it’s still full of little pearls. Listen to this month’s mix on Soundcloud (download available) or Mixcloud (stream only).

The good peoples from BamaLoveSoul released their first official compilation today. Must say there are some nice gems on this album and DJ Rahdu managed to create a cohesive, soulful and diverse LP. The compilation is available (Digital, CD, Vinyl) on the BLS bandcamp and features Nicholas Ryan Gant, Tall Black Guy, Freddie Joachim, Ahmed Sirour, Diggs Duke, Byron the AquArius, and others.

Almost a decade ago King Britt released his “Adventures in Lo-Fi” album on BBE. There were some great track on there, but one of our favs is “Superstar” featuring Ivana Santilli. Perfect Slept on Sundays track in case you were in need of some nice Soul. In case you don’t have this in you collection yet, I suggest you buy it on Adventures In Lo-Fi - King Britt or pick up a second hand copy of the vinyl somewhere. There’s definitely some good stuff on here..

Little southern hummingbird Tweet grew a little older and wiser, but man does she still know how to get down! Her new song, “Trouble”, might be one of the best R&B songs I’ve heard in a while. It’s sweet, silky, sexy and soulful, but not a moment does it sound cheesy or anything. Really happy with this second instalment of #TweetTuesdays on DuBose Music Group. Welcome back miss Tweet!
