After a lot of positive responses to the 1st “The Future of Funk” mix, me and Mr. Speak decided we wanted to do another one. It wasn’t very easy to keep the quality high, but we did our best on the sequal. I’m very pleased to present to you: “The Future of Funk” Pt. 2. Now Modern Funk music is still pretty niche so we’d like to contribute to the cause in our own way, since we’re not musicians ourselves. Big shout out to artists for hitting us up with music and special thanks to Tokyo Dawn Records who are releasing their “The Boogie” Vol. 2 compilation soon! Get ready for a 40 minute ride down the nasty side.
Ya’ll know our homie AD Bourke from his funky “Mirage” album. What you don’t know is that he’s back on some other shit with with his “Tidal Motion” EP, coming out next week on Space Dimension Controller‘s Basic Rhythm label. This just sounds incredibly dope, but what do you expect…it’s kind of an RBMA 2010 affair. The EP should really be on your ‘to-cop-list’ so don’t hesitate and pre-order the record over at Rush Hour now!

The homie AD Bourke drops a dirty, nasty, synthfilled “Jam Sess1″ via Soundcloud…just the way I like ‘em! Love to hear some experiments like these more often, cuz it’s sho nuff funky. Seems so long ago, but this picture was taken at last year Red Bull Music Academy in London.

Miss Amalia has both the Fonk as well as the looks. This beautiful female vocalist from Sweden (by way of Vancouver) is soon to drop her solo album “Art Slave” on Tokyo Dawn Records. Her better half, Opolopo, put some previews online so I wanted to share one with you entitled “All The Funk I Need”. Just got the entire album and it’s straight up bangin’. I’m not even playing around, because whenever Nev hits me back with ‘I didn’t know people still make music this good’ you know it’s serious. This will be one of those albums you won’t forget any time soon. Nice guest productions from Atjazz and last year’s RBMA participant Ad Bourke. So keep your ears on this lady…March 4th!

Now I’ve been a huge fan of eighties Boogie/Funk music for ages and when I noticed that it was steadily making a comeback I was psyched. Earlier this year the ambassador of modern Funk, Dam-Funk told me he had the feeling a whole lot of new artists would be dropping that Future Funk in the years to come. The time is ripe…the fOnK is back. Tokyo Dawn Records just released this bangin’ “The Boogie” compilation, filled with nastyness from B. Bravo, AD Bourke, Opolopo & Amalia, Saturn Never Sleeps and much more. Available HERE digitally now and January 21st on CD.

I remember Adam no. 2 aka Ad Bourke from when we met at the Red Bull Music Academy in London earlier this year. This is one very friendly and talented guy hailing from Rome, Italy. He was in the studio with Adam no. 1 (B. Bravo) and Jack (Space Dimension Controller) brewing up some nasty’ funk. Ad’s solo album “Mirage” is coming out November 22nd on Citinite and if you love that future funk, you’ll be all over this for sure. One of my favs is without a doubt “Cosmic Connection” featuring Amalia and that Ulysses82 remix of “Light Echoes” is smokin’ as well!

I remember buddy Bravo telling me about DâM-FunK hitting him up for some exclusives for this mix he was doing for Mary Anne Hobbs. A month later here it is and at the same time we say farewell to Mary Anne as she is leaving BBC1 for good. Of course a lot of unreleased music from Ad Bourke, Teeko, B. Bravo and the master of Funk himself. So sit back and enjoy this “The Future Sound of Modern Funk” mix and download it HERE.

Earlier this year we had the chance to be a part of the Red Bull Music Academy, which took place in London this year. We tried to live the life of a participant and also brought our video camera along. You might come to the conclusion we are not very skilled videographers (yet), but nevertheless we wanted to share some of the footage we shot in London.
Today was marked in many agenda’s already, because it’s the official release date of the ‘RBMA Various Assets 2010′ compilation album. This time it’s available for everyone in digital form, so just head on over to the Red Bull Music Academy website for a high bitrate DOWNLOAD. Massive shout out to Deluge for the last minute edit and all the people we met in London. Next year Tokyo!!
Good news for everyone! The Red Bull Music Academy is dropping the “Various Assets London 2010″ compilation album on July 19th. If you don’t know the deal yet, check out this previous post and educate yourself. We remember this year’s Academy as if it was yesterday and we’d like to give a big fat shout out to all the participants we met, hung out with and befriended. Can’t stress enough what a fantastic project this is and topping it off with a compilation album is the right way to do it.
We were given the honour of bringing you this exclusive track by TOKiMONSTA featuring Andreya Triana, Oddisee and the homie Tranqill entitled “Jackin4beats Pt. 4″. Without a doubt one of our favourite tunes on the compilation. But with artists like Dâm-Funk, Hudson Mohawke, Robin Hannibal, James Pants, 00Genesis, Katy B, Space Dimension Controller, Kidkanevil, B. Bravo, Myele Manzanza, Ad Bourke, Swede:art and a whole lot more on there, you know it gotsta be funky. Reserve some space on your harddrive for this FREE high bitrate (320) release. Unlike previous years, this release will be available digitally and for some lucky bastards in physical form too. Spread the word, download, smile, cry…do whatever you feel like doing.

Error Code is the brand new single from Swiss beatmaker AEED , “Error Code” is the sequel to the stand-out debut “Synesthesia” released with Error Broadcast in 2009. AEED refines his trademark style of 8bit- influecend electric boogie and teamed up with three of Italys’ hottest beat fanatics. “Error Code” vinyl includes cooperation with Railster as well as a funk offence by AD Bourke and MPC wizardry by fLako on the remix flip.
