It’s been a while since we posted some new Devonwho stuff, but since he’s releasing his “Strangebrew” EP on All City next month, we thought we’d keep you in the know. My homeboy B. Bravo keeps murdering shit every single time with his distinct Cali sound and again his remix is crack-a-lackin’. Paris representative Onra is proud to announce his next album release, “Chinoiseries Pt. 2″, dropping on November 15th on All City Records. For this project has been digging for Chinese and Vietnamese vinyl to create a themed instrumental hip-hip beat journey just like he did five years ago with the first volume. The second edition of this series, which features 32 instrumentals all sampled from various vinyl found during various trips to South East Asia. Enjoy a short video trailer for “Chinoiseries Pt. 2″ which captures Onra digging for vinyl on one of his recent trips, while molding the original samples into a beat that you’ll soon get to enjoy.
It’s time for L.A. Series # 4 already. This time consisting out of L.A.’s (by way of Detroit) House Shoes and Jordan Rockswell (formerly known as Snowman). Heavy Hip Hop beats is what we were expecting from Michael and it is exactly that what’s on this 10″. Luckily House Shoes relocated to Los Angeles in 2006, because otherwise he hadn’t been on this release. My favorite of his two joints on this one is “Newports”.
On the flipside we have Jordan Rockswell (also a Detroit native) who released “Street Corner Music” with Allcity a few years ago under the name Snowman. His dopest track on this 10″ is “The Groove”, so though we’d stream it low quality. If you think this record has to be a part of your collection…show some support and BUY the 10″ at Rush Hour.

In just two more weeks the third installment of the L.A. Series drops. This time you get Ras G & The Afrikan Space Program (Poobah) and Samiyam (Brainfeeder/Hyperdub) on the same EP. Shout out to Olan and the other at All City Records for providing us with a shitload of music these past few months. Our friends at RBMA dropped this new joint “Fishsticks” (low-res) today, so we decided to share it as well. This is the second time KrystalKlear has come to my attention and I decided to let ya’ll in on a little secret. This mystery artist from Belize is going to be releasing his debut release in April on All City Records. Massive synth waves flood the ears and take you back to the Boogie. It’s artists like Dam-Funk that pop to mind when hearing this typical early-’80s boogielicious funkiness. Klear’s productions are on that Neo Boogie tip that only few have managed to produce on a level to my liking so far. Keep your eyes and ears open for more of that f0nk!

TAKE (aka Sweatson Klank) continues to push the boundaries of the experimental beat music in new directions. Building on a multitude of successful EP and full-length releases, TAKE has unleashed a slew of new works, DJ mixes and remixes in 2009 and we’re not even half-way through the year yet! Co-founder of the legendary beat showcase night “Sketchbook”, he has been an influential figure in the LA beat scene since day one. 2009 is the year he steps out from the shadows clutching fresh material for the All City, Poobah and Dublab labels and shiny new remixes for the likes of Warp’s Flying Lotus. His music is an epic journey, leading the listener down dust covered roads of bit-crushed melodies and molested jazz samples, all hemmed in by walls of bass. Onra – #7 of 7 from French beatmaker Onra is a double sided dose of French bruk hip hop soul with a nod to the East. The young Parisian is already 2 LP’s deep – his incredible 2007 Chinoiseries LP is paid homage to Far Eastern pop music with beats plucked from Vietnamese records picked up on holidays. Alongside Quetzal he has released two “Tribute” EPs which layered soul samples with a hip hop backbone. As if that’s not enough he has just released his second solo LP – “1.0.8” which again looks across the globe for its inspiration, made up of Indian samples. So start diggin for Onra’s All City Beatstrumental series with the lush “My Comet” and flip side “Shhhhhhh”.
