It’s been a while since we posted some Ta-Ku music, but when Reggie sent over his latest “Latenyc” EP we were kinda feeling it. It released today on HW&W Records and consists of nine tracks finished on his recent trip to NYC. This release is a warm up to his upcoming “Scarlette” LP dropping this Febuary. The song that struck me the most is entitled “Low Battery” and lets face it…we’ve all been there. This kinda feels like lights out and let your head rest on that comfy fluffy pillow just before you go to sleep.

Perth’s Paper Chain:
From a forthcoming label out of Perth called Paper Chain comes the “Paper Chain Sampler” Vol. 1. There’s a few good songs on there, but not everything was to our liking. Perhaps it’s best to check this one out for yourself. The compilation includes music from Ta-Ku, Kit Pop, Bobby Blunt and a whole lot of other producers I’ve never heard about. Might not be worth your $10, but then again for some it might.

Yes..I know Dilla month is over..and we heard way too many weak Dilla remixes/ tributes. But must say Melbourne’s M-Phazes turned “Slum Village – Raise It Up” into something new just using the drum pattern and his own westcoast feel. RAISE IT UP for the J Dilla Foundation!!

All the way from Perth, Australia RBMA 2008 participant TA-KU hit us up with a nice new track called “Sylvia”. This is the first release off his upcoming LP “Knots” which is set to come out on Australia’s Paperchain Records in 2011. To check out more of TA-KU’s stuff head over to his Soundcloud or Bandcamp pages.
