Now love can come in many shapes and forms. One of them is friendship and our buddy B. Bravo connected us with Teeko who uploaded this brand new “Neva Find Anotha” (All My Love) joint featuring Black Spade and Dwight Trible of his upcoming “Light Up The Darkness” album coming out later this month. Head over to Teeko’s website for a free download of “Young Funklords” and be sure to look for the light in times of darkness.

I was kinda late on Paul’s first “Wake Ups” leak of his debut “Complex Housing” album, which came out today! Salva is a friendly young fella out of Frisco who we had known a few years because of his Frite Nite label. Never knew Paul was a producer as well and certainly had no idea he was talented as well. On his album he has some crazy dub flavoured joints that hit the floor hella hard. Of course his buddy B. Bravo couldn’t resists to deliver a tight ass remix. Perhaps one of the best tracks together with MachineDrum‘s remix of “Keys Open Doors”. Pre-order his blue vinyl record over at Tall Corn Music or wait for the digital buy link to be added soon.

Dec 23

Now I’ve been a huge fan of eighties Boogie/Funk music for ages and when I noticed that it was steadily making a comeback I was psyched. Earlier this year the ambassador of modern Funk, Dam-Funk told me he had the feeling a whole lot of new artists would be dropping that Future Funk in the years to come. The time is ripe…the fOnK is back. Tokyo Dawn Records just released this bangin’ “The Boogie” compilation, filled with nastyness from B. Bravo, AD Bourke, Opolopo & Amalia, Saturn Never Sleeps and much more. Available HERE digitally now and January 21st on CD.

I remember Adam no. 2 aka Ad Bourke from when we met at the Red Bull Music Academy in London earlier this year. This is one very friendly and talented guy hailing from Rome, Italy. He was in the studio with Adam no. 1 (B. Bravo) and Jack (Space Dimension Controller) brewing up some nasty’ funk. Ad’s solo album “Mirage” is coming out November 22nd on Citinite and if you love that future funk, you’ll be all over this for sure. One of my favs is without a doubt “Cosmic Connection” featuring Amalia and that Ulysses82 remix of “Light Echoes” is smokin’ as well!

Sorry for the late passs, but when we received the latest Swede:art release on Tokyo Dawn entitled “Emotional Colors Remixes” last week, we didn’t get a chance to put it online. Of course we took some time out to give it a good listen and I liked what I was hearing. Fellow ex-RBMA participants B. Bravo, Kidkanevil and TOKiMONSTA remix the shit out of Swede’s Emotional Colors project together with producers such as Comfort Fit, Devonwho, Ishfaq and Sam Irl. Buddy Bravo delivers that funk, but I didn’t expect anything less. Devon’s remix is also a banger so enjoy these 2 streams, because the CD doesn’t drop untill October 21st.

joe-kay-telephany

Young homie Joe Kay from Cali dropped another mix on us and we decided to host it. He named the mix “Telepathy” and it sounds hella refreshing if you ask me. The artwork looks crackin’ and was done by 96 from France. Download this free mix below and check the tracklist after the jump. Enjoy your weekend!

dam-funk-modern-funk-mix

I remember buddy Bravo telling me about DâM-FunK hitting him up for some exclusives for this mix he was doing for Mary Anne Hobbs. A month later here it is and at the same time we say farewell to Mary Anne as she is leaving BBC1 for good. Of course a lot of unreleased music from Ad Bourke, Teeko, B. Bravo and the master of Funk himself. So sit back and enjoy this “The Future Sound of Modern Funk” mix and download it HERE.

Earlier this year we had the chance to be a part of the Red Bull Music Academy, which took place in London this year. We tried to live the life of a participant and also brought our video camera along. You might come to the conclusion we are not very skilled videographers (yet), but nevertheless we wanted to share some of the footage we shot in London.

Today was marked in many agenda’s already, because it’s the official release date of the ‘RBMA Various Assets 2010′ compilation album. This time it’s available for everyone in digital form, so just head on over to the Red Bull Music Academy website for a high bitrate DOWNLOAD. Massive shout out to Deluge for the last minute edit and all the people we met in London. Next year Tokyo!!

PICK-03 copy

So here we are back in Amsterdam again. I wanted to write something in Frisco, but I decided to hang back and relax. Enjoying the Bay to the fullest was what I did, so sorry for the post lagging on my part. In L.A. we met up with the Bravo Bros. and had some good old fun with dem sexy hoochie mama’s. The Brasilian house party was the icing on the cake and we had hella fun (except for the racial slurs). We drove all the way to Frisco the next day and drank a couple if Tsingtao’s at Sweater Funk. After some shopping at Haight, we had a blast at Change The Beat where AFTA-1 was playing. Nice meeting Dibiase, Low Limit, B.Lewis, Spinnerty and of course the CTB crew (Centipede, Dials & Salva). We went digging for records, checked out the Park & Coultrain and hung out with the Bayonics for a while. Just some random pictures, some taken by K-Murda and some by me. Next year I’m going back to Cali..
