Always fly and swingin’ his hair to L.A.’s gentle spring time breeze. It’s the homie DaM-FunK aka the ambassador of Boogie Funk with some new freebie funk. Love the way he gets down on “Stayin’ Super Fly” which sounds extra crispy and sucka free. It was available on Damon’s Soundcloud, but he reached the maximum amount of downloads. Thought we’d upload it for all who missed out.

Few of you have ever heard of Tony Cook, yet some people call Tony’s “On The Floor” (released in ’84) the first house music record. Eventhough the sound of his music seemed to breathe New York, Tony was in fact from Georgia. After two and a half decades he finally releases his “Back To Reality” album on Stones Throw. If you’re into that Modern Funk, you’ll definitely love this album full of unreleased material and rare jams. Now available via Rush Hour or the ST store.
He got his start as James Brown’s drummer (while still a teenager) as soon as he graduated from school. He drummed off and on for James as well as Etta James, all the while recording his own music that sounded nothing like neither artist. Even though he’s released many 7” singles through his own label, none of these songs have ever been on a full album before, They’ve never been performed live either.

After having dropped five volumes of “Toeachizown” digitally, the physical release is finally here. The double CD with 6p. folder is available now for $16.98! Dam-Funk‘s debut album released Oct. 20th and this double-disc CD contains over two hours of music. The vinyl will be released as 5LP box set, which is delayed due to manufacturing issues. Hopefully that will drop late December or early Januari. We had to share one of our favorite joints with ya’ll, “Candy Dancin’”, featuring Mark de Clive-Lowe on the synths. So head over to Stones Throw to buy this classic album! Oh yeah…while supplies last: Toeachizown CD and LP orders will ship the bonus 7inch “On Your Way To Her Pad”.

When we heard that Dam-Funk was coming over, MRP and me decided to get our funky strutt on and mix up a little Boogie/Funk mix. Enjoy these twentyfive minutes of pure, unadulterated Funk and get in the mood for Dam-Funk’s European tour. Our friends at Strange Fruit loved the idea and so we suggested this mix was to be used as a promotional mix for the Strange Fruit presents: Dam-Funk event, held on October 10th in Rotterdam. Thelonius & Lucky Dubz will be sound providers for the rest of the evenening so come one, come all and get ya boogie on! Deluge…thanks a million for the the artwork and peep the flyer (by Lucky) and tracklist after the jump.
During the Stones Throw European tour Dam Funk handed out a few of these European Nights CD’s. This contains four tracks of straight up, pitched down boogie/funk with the tracks ‘Electrik Breeze’ and ‘Nyghtryder’ being the illest two out of the bunch. These 4 tracks are well mastered and won’t be coming out anytime soon. So do the right thing like Spike Lee and get yourself a copy at Rushhour. Oh…can’t forget huge shout out to Mr. Speak for the heads up!
