A while ago we met up with Zed “Maddslinky” Bias at the Sound Gallery in Amsterdam. He was so kind to do a one hour mix for our Moovmnt Radio show filled with exclusives and sneak previews. If you like that UK Funky/Broken/Garage/Dubstep/Wonkey sound you’re in for a proper treat! Dave drops some fingerlickin’ tunes and we invite you to take a listen. Oh and for you Dutchies…this Friday Maddslinky will be playing at Rampage in Paradiso (Amsterdam).

We’ve been using Mixcloud for almost a year now mainly thanks to their usability and handy widget. When they asked us to take part in their “Celebration of Curation” campaign, we felt honoured to be a part of it and so the whole team got together to put together a mix worthy of this celebration. In the playlist you’ll find some brand new, as well as classic, Electronic Beats, Hip Hop, Broken and even some Soulful House music. Some of the biggest editorial voices in the world of music were invited to produce an exclusive Cloudcast for their campaign – 31 days, 31 curators, 31 Cloudcasts. Go check out what we and our colleagues from BBC1xtra, Red Bull Music Academy, Laid Back, XLR8R and others have put together HERE.

It is my pleasure to introduce to you ?uestlove’s sis…Donn T. Her debut album “Kaleidoscopic” contains a broad spectrum of styles, that takes you from West London to the underground Chicago club scene. Mesmerizing and soothing melodies combined with uptempo beats made for the dancefloor is what this album is all about. So many gems on here like the uptempo “Luna Garden” or what about “Lookt At (what U startin’)” with serene vocals and that broken Jazz sound that Simbad can produce so well (which is available as a FREE download HERE). Perhaps it’s songs like “Beautiful Day” I can appreciate the most, cuz it really bring across that feel good feeling and brings a smile to my face whilst wiping the sleep out of my eyes. So if you’re looking for the perfect combination between pure, soothing music and ruff & raw dancefloor bangers…buy “Kaleidoscopic”! This album is available via and other stores worldwide.

Once again we bring it live to the MiNiBAR in Amsterdam, where tomorrow our special guest is none other than Mark de Clive-Lowe. This genius needs no introduction and it’s an honor to have him play at our monthly party. We als record our very first official show on Red Bull Radio tomorrow as well, so Mark will drop by to bless the airwaves as well. Every month we’ll be recording Moovmnt Radio at the Sugar Factory in Amsterdam, so any artists in the neighborhood…holla if you want to be come visit. The show will be available online somewhere next week (if Red Bull decides to send it this time). The previous show we recorded was a pilot, but it never made it into our hands inbox.
Back to business. Your bar or mine? Expect some Nu-Soul, Hip Hop, Nu-Jazz/Broken Beat, Soulful House and much much more. In the meanwhile…get in the mood with Mark’s “Quintessential” with Kaidi on the Moog of the “Tide’s Arising” album which is available via

The time has finally come for Ty to drop his latest “Special Kind of Fool” album on us. The first single “Emotions” (click HERE to purchase) came out last month and contained some big names on the remixes. Waajeed was one of the producers on there, but my person fav was the Dego & Akwasi‘s 2000 Black Remix. We’ve been waiting for this to drop eversince we interviewed Ty last year before his show at the Bitterzoet in Amsterdam. This release is now available via and on CD via the BBE website, so show sum love for this Hip Hop veteran! Songs like “Heart Is Breaking”, “Get 2 The Sky”, “Me” and “Falling” are just incredible and show us that Ty still got it even after being in the game for so long. Definitely a worhty successor to “Closer” and this honestly sounds like a breath of fresh air.

This past Saturday we went to Plastic People and witnessed a classic Theo Parrish set from beginning to end. The night was even more special because it could be the last time Theo played at Plastic People. In case you haven’t heard it yet, the club is being threatened with closure by the city and police of London. If you’ve never been to Plastic People before you might wonder what all the fuzz is about. Plastic People is a place like none other, besides from being one of the birthplaces of several styles such as broken beat & dubstep, it’s a unique space in itself. The space is small and the dancefloor has no added lights other than those necessary such as those at the bar. This means you practically have a dark dancefloor where you can dance and enjoy the music the way you choose to. Plastic People also has a unique soundsystem that vibrates through the whole space. Theo Parrish said it’s probably the best sound installation in a small venue. To make a long story short, we need to unite to keep Plastic People from being closed. At the end of his set Theo gave a classic speech of which we were able to record a part, listening to this should give you an idea of the vibe of the night. If you haven’t already, sign the petition and help save Plastic People!

A five year interim since the first LP, but good things come to those those who wait. The production and song writing trilogy Bembe Segue, Kaidi Tatham, and Dego are joined by the unmistakable vocal sounds of Philadelphia’s Lady Alma. Alma appeared on countless club classics from Sylk130’s ‘When the Funk Hits The Fan’ to Soul Dahmma’s ‘Happy’ and 4hero’s ‘Hold it Down’. Soaring with a distinctive soulful voice from start to finish showing all her versatility and warm spirit, Alma delivers “Two” into a relaxed head-nod-soul-experience. Leaning toward a hip hop sound, ‘Get With It’ features Brand Nubian’s Sadat X under unity and progression. Dego and Kaidi push a warm sumptuous melody driven groove in a way that they only know how. Guest appearance of Musical Director Akwasi on ‘Strawberries In Vinegar’ an instant boogie anthem. Buy the new Silhouette Brown album HERE.

Last month I was chilling at the Rushhour shop and was advised to check out this Bullion remix. I got the vinyl out, put the headphones on my ears and was quite surprised to hear a broken Afrobeat remix when I expected some electronic ruffness. After some helpfull comments from you guys, I found out the proper name of the artist, Amadou & Mariam from Mali, and the title, “Ce N’est Pas Bon”. My bad, but as you know the Internet can contain faulty info from time to time. Our source was incorrect and luckily for me you guys set the record straight on this one. That’s what you get with whitelabels. Anyhow…be sure to pick up this incredible record at Rushhour!

It’s been a long time coming, but it’s time now for us to take this to the streets. This Saturday we invite you all to come hang with us at de Unie in Rotterdam. We’ll be having an intimate get-together/early evening chillage with the SUPERBLENDERS and MOOVMNT as sound providers for the evening. Expect some of that Nu-soul, Hip Hop, Soultronica, Broken Beat, Boogie/Funk and a whole lot more funkyness for you to enjoy. In the future we will be doing more events, so show some love and support if you’re down with the movement called Moovmnt! Oh and it’s free, so no excuses..

A few months ago D-Felic released his debut album on “Oost West Thuis Best” (which means ‘there’s no place like home’ in Dutch). This album has a soulful vibe and fuses electronic sounds with Nu-Jazz and Broken Beat. The majority of the vocals was done by Colonel Red (People Records, Bugz In The Attic) and Tondráe Kemp. Other guest artists are guitarist Marcus Machado and famed Dutch trumpeter Jan van Duikeren (Candy Dulfer, Paul Weller, New Cool Collective Big Band).
Both a video and a Tom Trago (Rush Hour Recordings) remix of deep house album cut “The More I” (featuring Colonel Red) are both on their way. Check out the the digital release at the iTunes Store or pre-order the CD at Bol.com and leave a comment to let us know what you think. Thanks to Alex Buiter for the photography and D-Felic for giving away “Here For You” as a Moovmnt exclusive download.
