I gave it some thought, but decided to post a little something about the new Finest Ego compilation anyway. In all honesty this is one of the least interesting ones I’ve heard so far though. Since it was time for Germany, Austria and Switzerland to represent I had high hopes, but could only find a few mediocre productions on here. Might just be me being hard to please, but all I wanted to share with you guys was this beat from Chief. Much appreciation for the free download, but I hope in 2012 the compilations get better quality wise. Personally I’d rather hear 10 amazing productions than 33 mediocre ones. Free downloads available up till Jan. 6th so get it while it lasts.

You might remember we posted about these two jolly young beat wizards, Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie, earlier this Spring. They came hard with their “Untreeleted” joint, which you can still grab for free, and are coming back with a follow-up album called “Astro Funk & Weltfrieden” slated to drop November 18th via Feelin’ Music. I’m really loving the playful sound these cats are bringing and eventhough they’re still hella young (they started producing together in 2010), I hear a lot of potential here. Chief Beatmaker just sent over the second mix from the “Seasons” project called “Fall”. The selection was done by Boo and Chief mixed things up on this one. Canadian rapper/producer Moka Onlyteams up with Swiss beatmaker Chief. Moka Only and Chief first collaborated in 2008 on the tracks “Do Work” and “Felt before”, and soon after Moka Only released his album “Lowdown Suite 2 – The Box” on Chief’s label Feelin’ music. A good connection and the fact that each artist seemed to get the best out of the other convinced Moka Only and Chief to deepen the collaboration and have this natural flow of united work result in a full-length album. The result is “Crickets”, out November 8 on Feelin’ Music and available as pre-order now!

Co$$‘ new album, “Before I Awoke”, was highly anticipated by the whole Moovmnt gang. Now that it finally dropped, I can say I’m just a little disappointed. Perhaps I was expecting a lot, but in the end only felt like I got a little. Certainly not a bad album, but it does sound kinda dated to me at times. Best productions are from Chief and Fonetik, but I also like “Pot Ash” by Exile and “Burn It Down” by Cook Classics. Check out the album out on

So Co$$‘ new album is about to drop next month. First video is “Spaceman” and if my hunch is right “Before I Awoke” might just be that type of hype that you’ve been waiting for. A few cameo’s on there from Blu, Aloe Blacc and Shawn Jackson. Production wise he called in the help of Exile, Fonetik Simbol, J83, Knxwledge, Cook Classics, Erik L and Chief. Really looking forward to this one dropping June 7th on Tres Records!
