LRG Clothing and Dirty Science team up and present Exile’s “Intro To The Outro” mixtape which contains only music produced by him and was mixed by himself as well. Co$$‘ new album, “Before I Awoke”, was highly anticipated by the whole Moovmnt gang. Now that it finally dropped, I can say I’m just a little disappointed. Perhaps I was expecting a lot, but in the end only felt like I got a little. Certainly not a bad album, but it does sound kinda dated to me at times. Best productions are from Chief and Fonetik, but I also like “Pot Ash” by Exile and “Burn It Down” by Cook Classics. Check out the album out on

So Co$$‘ new album is about to drop next month. First video is “Spaceman” and if my hunch is right “Before I Awoke” might just be that type of hype that you’ve been waiting for. A few cameo’s on there from Blu, Aloe Blacc and Shawn Jackson. Production wise he called in the help of Exile, Fonetik Simbol, J83, Knxwledge, Cook Classics, Erik L and Chief. Really looking forward to this one dropping June 7th on Tres Records!

To get in that L.A. vibe, here’s a fresh new Shawn Jackson joint of his upcoming “Brand New Old Me” album. Shawn gets a little help from people like Co$$, Thurzday (U-N-I) and JimiJames. On the productional side look out for ppl like Cook Classics, Astronote, Tony Ozier, Knxwledge and Beat Maker Beat. The title song was produced by Cook and we’ll drop that on a later note. I believe a video of “Lil Big Man” will be shot in a few weeks, so keep an eye out for that as well. In the meanwhile enjoy “Izichu” featuring Thurzday, produced by Beat Maker Beat and be on the look out for that vinyl, CD or digital release coming out on Tres Records next month.

I’m sure we all haven’t forgotten about what happened in Haiti in January. With the “Notes For Haiti” compilation album, Detroit and L.A. join unite and come together on one album to show love and support. Most songs you might already know, but still well worth the support! Check the official press release…
Moved by the catastrophic earthquake and aftershocks that ravaged the island nation of Haiti, a group of artists is asking the public to remember the difference each of us can make. The project, “Notes for Haiti”, is a way for the collective to thank the public for their support of the island nation to date – and hopefully inspire folks to give more of the help that’s that still needed.
Estimates are that beyond the more than 230,000 Haitians who lost their lives as a result of the earthquakes, another 300,000 were injured and over one million were left homeless.
The album is available digitally in a “pay-what-you-want” format as of Tuesday, June 1, 2010 through the website notesforhaiti.bandcamp.com. All proceeds from album sales and donations are funneled directly to Oxfam America’s ongoing Haiti relief efforts.
The compilation features exclusive content and album material from Karriem Riggins, eLZhi (Slum Village), Blu, Fashawn, Exile, Aloe Blacc, Crown Royale (Buff 1 and DJ Rhettmatic), Invincible, Now On (Mayer Hawthorne, IX Lives, Jackson Perry), 14KT, Houseshoes, Co$$, Sene, AB, Marv Won, Jordan Rockswell, and SlopFunkDust.
The concept behind the “pay-what-you-want” format (used previously by bands such as Radiohead) is that the user can dictate the price paid for the album as a whole, or for each song purchased individually (for as little as $1). The donations are processed directly to Oxfam America through the secure BandCamp-PayPal portal, removing unnecessary overhead or infrastructure costs at the point of sale.
Oxfam is working in multiple locations to provide clean water, sanitation, shelter, seeds and running cash for work programs. Though their public appeal to Haiti has closed (for the time), this project will continue to affect their ongoing efforts on the island.
Detroit natives Niles Heron (Los Angeles) and Sarah Lockridge-Steckel (Boston) executive produced the album with gracious contributions from artists, promoters, managers, and good people nationwide.
Please visit the Notes For Haiti Bandcamp page and give generously! I just donated $5 and I truly hope that you, you and yes you have a heart as well and dig deep into your pockets. We’re only streaming these two bangers at a low bitrate, cuz for only $1 you can BUY the entire album.

I remember that we posted about Chief’ “Collaboration Collection” last year. It was a collection of the beats he made between 2005 and 2009. The album features Moka Only, John Robinson, Kissey Asplund, Dynas, Blu, Co$$, Les Nubians and others. Now he is back with another jazzy/sample based album as an unofficial tribute to jazz pianist and composer Chick Corea. A collection of 10 Chick Corea reworks by Chief. The Asian sensation J. Kim (who’s hard work is always appreciated) sent us this new Co$$ joint to hold you over till the release of his first debut album, which is hopefully coming real soon. The track is entitled “No Allah” and was produced by Swedish producer Erik L. No Allah is in no way his proclamation that God does not exist, nor does he mean any disrespect to Muslims or any systems of belief, the song is really about good not being able to thrive where evil is uplifted….If you listen closely the lyrics are more about hypocrisy than Atheism.
