Amsterdam-based singer Mar comes from a musical fam with his dad being a musician and also his older sister Ninthe. Earlier this year he released the “Conversations With Her” EP together with Full Crate on Melting Pot Music. His latest project is called “Mar Variations” and the concept is that he basically adds a little extra vocal niceness to an already existing song, instrumental, etc. Louis Bordeaux his “1st Session” was already a gem, but with some subtle additions it becomes ever shinier then before. I remember I had a conversation with Mar last week, and I said that “I Said” was my least favorite track on the EP. Well I think I need to take that back after seeing the video. Full Crate & Mar once again proved that visuals can add a new dimension to audio, cause this video is exactly what the song needed. If you haven’t bought this one yet…here you go !!

A while ago we posted some mystery snippets and most of you immediatly guessed who this artists was. Indeed we were talking about Coultrain who is dropping a brand new 7″ on Recordbreakin Februari 23rd. Enough with the clues and guessing…here’s some solid info on Coultrain’s first solo release since his self-released debut “The Adventures Of Seymour Liberty” produced by multi-instrumentalist, I, CED of Hawthorne Headhunters.
Finally some real soul music, because honestly 2009 was kinda low on soul. Thank god for releases like this and Full Crate & Mar‘s “Conversations With Her”. Loving this sneak-peak and I’m curious about Coultrain’s forthcoming full-length album, the next full chapter in the Seymour Liberty trilogy, to be released by Fresh Selects later this year. “The Wanderer” b/w “Balancing Act” drops February 23rd on Recordbreakin on both 7″ vinyl & digital and can be pre-ordered HERE.

Fashionably late, but right on time we present to you the “Conversations With Her” EP. Now a lot of you got hip to Full Crate & Mar through us and it’s only logic that we support these guys like we have been doing from the get go. This soulful, soothing piece of music was something we’ve been looking forward to for a long time and finally it’s here. Thanks to Melting Pot Music for releasing this and hope to see a lot of you at the release party Saturday 23rd at the Bitterzoet in Amsterdam (more info after the jump).
Eric Roberson was so impressed with “She Was Fly” that he decided to record some slick vocals over it. That version is also on the EP, together with my favorite joint “Surreal Moments”.
