I’m sure almost everybody here knows who SBTRKT is, but in case you don’t here’s the 411. Aaron Jerome aka SBTRKT began his career at Plastic People in London and has had a steadily growing fan-base eversince. For all these music fans, he decided to share a previously unreleased song from 2009. I can say without a doubt that “Atomic Peace” is one of the favorite musical treats I’ve heard so far from SBTRKT. Never really felt the need to post about this guy, but after having heard this I think it’s about time to do so.

After a lot of positive responses to the 1st “The Future of Funk” mix, me and Mr. Speak decided we wanted to do another one. It wasn’t very easy to keep the quality high, but we did our best on the sequal. I’m very pleased to present to you: “The Future of Funk” Pt. 2. Now Modern Funk music is still pretty niche so we’d like to contribute to the cause in our own way, since we’re not musicians ourselves. As you guys and gals might know, we’ve been supporting the half Chilean producer called fLako for quite some time over at Moovmnt. We’ve met a few times and he is a very humble guy. He’s been living in London for a while now and is releasing his brand new project entitled “Carving Away The Clay” today. This EP is on some new and improved shit and clearly fLako has been evolving in sound and style over the past few years. The text below expresses the thought behind the EP, which will is available on 10″ vinyl (Rush Hour) as well as digitally via Bandcamp.
‘Carving Away The Clay’ impresses upon the idea of an ongoing process in which raw material is stripped off of anything superfluous or impeding until the essential parts of ourselves are exposed. It is a never ending process of striving for perfection in all areas of life.

Salva has been dropping nothing but major releases all over this year. Not everything was my style, I admit, but gotta hand it to Paul for really taking the bull by the horns. His latest “Yellobone” EP will be released next month on FoF Music. I remember meeting Paul last summer in Frisco and he seemed like a quite guy. Got an email from Jus Like Music informing me about the “Untold Songs: Remixes EP1″. This is the precursor to the Belle curated Untold Songs: Volume One 23-track compilation that is dropping on June 13 in conjunction with Amnesty International.
