Got an email from Jus Like Music informing me about the “Untold Songs: Remixes EP1″. This is the precursor to the Belle curated Untold Songs: Volume One 23-track compilation that is dropping on June 13 in conjunction with Amnesty International. These 3 remixes are free and the full compilation will cost a mere £5 of which the majority will go directly to Amnesty International to support their “Stop Violence Against Women” campaign. As warm up for the Red Bull Music Academy 2011 in Tokyo, UK Garage legend MJ Cole will be doing a free RBMA workshop during Amsterdam’s 5 Days Off event at Club Up (March 5th). A second artist might be confirmed later, but more info on the event on Facebook. All musicians can apply for this years RBMA untill April 4th, so don’t hesitate and fill out those forms!

On another note…MJ Cole is about to release his “Satellite” EP after the weekend and we just had to give you guys a little sneak peak in the form of this preview. Really liking this mellowed out Dubstep joint “Hawaii” with those subtle harp melodies we know to be his trademark.

A while back we decided we wanted to make a mix containing some music that we normally don’t post about that often. It’s a fine line, but this mix definitely crosses that line on several occasions. With the Dutch 5daysoff event around the corner we thought it would be suiting to name this the “5daysoff Moovmnt Mix”. Some more Dance orientated music in this mix, meant for the dancefloor rather than your iPod. Also sent this mix in for a contest, so three birds with one stone. I was kinda late on Paul’s first “Wake Ups” leak of his debut “Complex Housing” album, which came out today! Salva is a friendly young fella out of Frisco who we had known a few years because of his Frite Nite label. Never knew Paul was a producer as well and certainly had no idea he was talented as well. On his album he has some crazy dub flavoured joints that hit the floor hella hard. Of course his buddy B. Bravo couldn’t resists to deliver a tight ass remix. It’s been while since we’ve heard anything new from 2000F & J Kamata, but they’re back with a remix for the song “Wind Up” from Britisch pop group Encore. I remember working in a record shop in Amsterdam called Dancetracks in ’99 for a short while. One of the records that caught me attention was Zed Bias with “Neighborhood” on Locked On. Back then it was the era of Garage of music which came in many shapes and forms. In the here and now his alias Maddslinky is back during what we can now define as the era of Electronica and Dubstep.

His album “Make a Change” is quite divers and manages to blend many different genres plus it contains one of the best soulful Dubstep tunes made up till now. We were all over “Further Away” featuring Tawiah last year and played it as often as possible. Another banging mix between genres is “Lionheart” where Reggae and Dubstep are blended into one. On “Special” Maddslinky and UK soul singer Omar hit you with a soothing mix of soulful house and broken beats with that typical Zed Bias bass. For the rest this album contains lots of UK Garage, UK Funky and Dubstep flavoured tunes with loads of piano melodies warm Juno synths. Out now on Tru Thoughts and available via so act accordingly!
