Always been a huge fan of DJ Quik eversince the early nineties. Wanted to give you this low bitrate sneak peak off Quik’s upcoming album “The Book of David”, dropping next week. Ya’ll should go out and cop that when it drops. Decided to add this soulful cut featuring Dwele as well. Get the album on now.

The third edition of The Gardens is a special one. Our friends Full Crate & FS Green have recently released their Hi-Hat Club Vol. 5: Eggs And Pancakes album on Melting Pot Music and this needed to be celebrated. I’d like to thank the guys from Cologne for last weeks release party in Germany and this Friday it’s time for the Amsterdam release party at the Bitterzoet. Not only will you be hearing the album through some bad ass speakers, but there will also be a limited amount of vinyl available for a special price. So come on over to support and get loose.
Manga & Crate decided to put together a blend of some soulful stuff for you and yours and behold…the The Gardens: November Nicess blend was a fact. You can either listen to it via Mixcloud or download it directly. Remember to visit us every 1st Friday of the month…hope to see ya’ll this Friday!
Last week me and K-Murda went digging at Rasputin’s in the Bay and we saw Dwele new “W.Ants W.Orld W.Omen” album. We could only listen to half of the songs, so we decided to listen to the whole thing first before deciding whether to buy or not. Sorry for being late, but in the end I got a chance to listen to it more closely. Whenever there’s a DJ Quik production on there…I say buy! Not Dwele’s best album, but still you should go to and support some of that Motor City Soul.

After Dwele‘s first leak of his upcoming album “W.ants W.orld W.omen” we were kinda disappointed. Not posting it was the choice we made and I’m glad Dwele comes correct with “I Wish” this time. Been down with Dwele G since the day 1 so I really hope the new album turns out to be hella tight next month.

Today is the 4th anniversary of Dilla’s untimely passing. At Mochilla, they’ve spent the past year working on A Suite for Ma Dukes. Until now they only released videos of entirely instrumental pieces, but today – in homage to the man responsible for all this – they have released the first vocal performance from SFMD. Detroit singer Dwele sang the classic “Angel” that night without rehearsal, but with Miguel Atwood-Furguson‘s beautiful arrangements. Shout out to V-Tech, B+ and J.Kim.
While outside everything is covered in snow, I thought it’d be nice to shine some light on a warm soulful joint. I’m positive that Dwele needs no introduction, nor does the track he covered here: Dilla’s classic remix of Spacek’s “Eve”. However, I still don’t hear enough people play this tune. Little is known about it, other than that it’s one of many many Dwele tracks that have never officially been released. So just sit back with some hot tea and enjoy!

Dang…this takes me back to the nineties! Straight sick Slum Village joint produced by Karriem Riggins and the video was directed by Dwele. Hope to hear more music like “Actin Normal” this year. Big ups Scrapdirty for the video.
The original BB Queen Bahamadia, with her distinctive smooth-monotone flow, has quietly faded into the background. Her first album “Kollage” was a hiphop classic and till this day still brings a smile to my face whenever I hear it. Don’t even get me started on that remix the Roots did for “I Confess”…
Anyway, in 2000 she came back with yet another (so forgotten) classic! For many people “BB Queen” was the first time they ever heard Dwele sing and produce & that joint with Slum Village…still sick!
It wasn’t a total surprise that Bahamadia left us with a 5 year hiatus again to come back in 2005 with the slept on album of the week “Good Rap Music”. In my opinion it’s not her best album, but still it does have a couple of nice joints on it worth checking out. The title track was produced by Kev Brown and it also features producers like King Britt and Hezikiah Davis. You gotta love the smart-ass rhymes and buttery flow she’s become so well known for. In case you’re curious and want to buy this album…try Amazon!
Oh peep this DJ Rahdu “Total Wreck: The Encyclopedia of Bahamadia” mix posted by our friends over at BamaLoveSoul. Since their podOmatic reached it’s bandwith be sure to download it HERE.

Now how many people are born with the perfect DJ name? Amsterdam based Turne Edwards aka DJ Turne was one of these lucky dogs. His legendary “Turne it up dillalicious mixtape vol 1“ got mad respect from all over the globe and was actually finished the day before Dilla died. If you haven’t played this a million times yet hurry up and get it.
Since it’s spring again (no Biz Markie), Turne decided to bless everyone with a brand new mixtape and we at Moovmnt were down to host it of course. So do yourself and your friends a huge favor and download “Big Guys Need Love 2“ if you love that sweet dilladwelelittlebrotherspinnaerykahbaduslumvilld’angelo kinda sound you can vibe to.
