Our first impression of Ryan was that he was one hell of a friendly RBMA participant and this impression got confirmed just now when we asked about his new “Titan” EP. Mr. Illum Sphere sent it over in mear minutes and we gave it a quick listen. I definitely hear a bit more House influences when I compare this release to his previous two EP’s on Fat City. Impressive nevertheless and I bet Martyn was thinking the same thing when he decided to bring this out on his 3024 label. This 3-track release on sees him moving into slightly more dance-oriented waters yet keeping it wonkey. I really like “Technopolis” is because of it’s tumbling piano keys hoisted aloft on a pulsing techno beat and misty-eyed chords. To listen to the whole thing…head on over to to purchase the Titan EP.

Fat City is back once again with the second full lenght album in the Producer series, entitled “Producer 2″. This album includes exclusive beats from big names such as: Dabrye, Harmonic 313, Martyn and Daedelus as well as rising Cali producers such as Devonwho, Mr Dibiase, Low limit and Mono/poly. From the UK we have my man Illum Sphere, Mike Slott & Tandy Love who bring the ruckus. All in all a good collection of electronic beats with some heavy hitters on it. The tracklist can be found after the jump and the CD can be bought at Rush Hour.

My oh my, what a year this is promising to be. So many good releases when it comes to Electronic Beats. We have the new Mr. Dibiase “Cakeology” release on Fat City and what a selection of goodness this is. A few joints on here are nothing less than amazing! “Brazilian Lady” is just mind-boggling and even comes close to a Pete Rock production in my book. A few of you might have snagged this from his Myspace already, but it’s official now. Another favourite of mine is “Be Fly” which is soothing and eases ones mind. All in all a quality EP with some heavy hitters on it if you ask me. You can BUY the vinyl at our friends at Rushhour so you’d better order while supllies last.

Once again the Linkwood Family get down and dirty. Their new album “System” is an album forged from experience. Unlike the last album, this one is a true cross-over ranging from 80’s boogie-influenced music to techno-ish and deep house sounding tunes. I know I’m in love with at least two joints of this album, so give it a listen if you see it in the recordshop. Available via Rushhour or Juno Records (from Oct. 9th) for the lovers of digital music.

Mr Dibiase is an old head from the L.A beat scene who’s been doing his thing for over 10 years. His productions run from 8-bit classics to seductive soul to raw grungy bangers. “May The Force” falls into the latter of these styles and is an extra heavy, deeply compressed rocker which switches between a chop up of the Star Wars (Death Star) OST and a lofi rendition of the same piece. You can get the Producer #2 release now on Fat City..
Mr.Dibiase didn’t make the deadline for the Flying Lotus EP 3×3 release. So we got the Flying Lotus – Camel (Dibiase Remix) as an exclusive. The EP will be out August 19 on Warp Records. Big shoutout to Mr. Dibiase, Joe Kay and Ras G…AIRHORN!!

I was listening to Benji B’s Deviation show the other night and heard this lovely track soothing my ears. I must admit I’m a sucker for flutes so no suprise I fell in love with “Satin White” by Morgan Zarate. Check out Steve Parks’ “Movin In The Right Direction” for more ill flutes.
Now you might have heard his immensly dope song M.A.B - with (heavenly) Sarah Ann Webb on the vocals - that was on the Producer No. 1 album (Fat City Records). Another big tune you might have heard is “Sticks and Stones” featuring Eska and Ghostface Killah. I really hope we’ll hear a lot more of Morgan in the future, simply because this London producer is one of my favorites. In case you haven’t got M.A.B yet…buy it HERE! Oh and thanks to Fatsarazzi for the photo..
