Like we told ya’ll last week, Stüssy and Stones Throw Records are releasing a tribute shirt in memoriam of Dilla. You already know the when and where if you’re a frequent visitor, so here’s something you didn’t know. The shirt was officially licensed by the J Dilla Estate and in case you are in Amsterdam this Saturday, we urge you to drop by ‘Café de Duivel’ for the Stüssy x Dilla Tribute Night. DJ’s FS Green, Turne, SP and Edzon will be spinning the illest of the illest in honor of the late J Dilla. Major props to the guys at Patta for puting this whole thing together by the way.
Even better news is that we get to give away 10 of these shirts for FREE! Unfortunately this contest is for our Dutch visitors only, seeing the winner has to pick up the shirt at the Precinct 5 store personally. Fashionably late, but right on time we present to you the “Conversations With Her” EP. Now a lot of you got hip to Full Crate & Mar through us and it’s only logic that we support these guys like we have been doing from the get go. This soulful, soothing piece of music was something we’ve been looking forward to for a long time and finally it’s here. Thanks to Melting Pot Music for releasing this and hope to see a lot of you at the release party Saturday 23rd at the Bitterzoet in Amsterdam (more info after the jump).
Eric Roberson was so impressed with “She Was Fly” that he decided to record some slick vocals over it. That version is also on the EP, together with my favorite joint “Surreal Moments”. World renowned sneakerstore Patta from the Netherlands drops a compilation album today entitled “So So Lobi”, which is Surinamese and translates to “nothing but love”. It contains 20 tracks from several of the finest Dutch hip hop artists.
Maikal X a.k.a Shyrock and FS Green teamed up to create the track “Escapade”, which is a bonus track on the album. Shyrock was one of the best MC’s in the nineties and later on in his career, he traded in MC’ing for singing. He was a member of Hollands best selling Reggae group Postmen and especially for the So So Lobi project, X switched his style back and recorded 3 rap verses on FS Green’s production. You can pick up a exclusive So So Lobi copy at the Patta store in Amsterdam and photo credtis go to Patrick Ebu-Mordi and Masta Lee(roy). Thanks FS for finally releasing some exclusive fire so we can now…Fikkie Stoken!

Released in 1987 and still top choice, not only in the Dutch streets, but worldwide to this very day, it’s only appropriate to give creator Tinker Hatfield and his original Nike Air Max 1 it’s just due by paying homage. The original recognizable colorblocking has been applied to remain true to it’s strong heritage and the main focus has been directed at the choice of durable materials: purple denim, canvas and nubuck ensure a more street-friendly version to carry on footwear tradition in a proud fashion. It took ages, or so it seemed, but finally all the audio was gathered and we asked JayHats to mix everything down so it sounds just right. No crappy sound, although please keep in mind that the beats you heard live at the battle may sound a bit different from this compilation. If you truly want to relive the moment I suggest you play these beats in a residential area, preferably as loud as possible. For those who weren’t at the Beat Battle at the Rooms of Red Bull…ya’ll missed a CLASSIC! Either way we asked all contestants to donate one beat so we could put together this compilation album. We called it “The Afterthought” because we thought it necessary to look back on what the f*ck happened that night.
