This super fly tribute from Diggs Duke fuses two of Herbie Hancock‘s most hypnotic grooves into a slow jazz-funk grind. Soothing to the ears and lovely wake up to early in the morning. This is available as a limited free download so hurry up and snatch this little nugget!

Our buddy with the million dollar smile, Isaac Aesili, is soon to release a brand new single entitled “Dandilion”. He’s not alone on this one, since he’s releasing this together with Rachel Fraser under the collective name Funkommunity. This song was produced by fellow Kiwi Christoph El Truento while the b-side “Never Fading” was produced by Julien Dyne and Isaac together. Both songs are from their upcoming “Chequered Thoughts” album by the way. The 7″ is going to be released later this month via Wonderful Noise Japan so keep an eye out for that one! Oh

It’s been a while since we posted some new Devonwho stuff, but since he’s releasing his “Strangebrew” EP on All City next month, we thought we’d keep you in the know. My homeboy B. Bravo keeps murdering shit every single time with his distinct Cali sound and again his remix is crack-a-lackin’. Devon’s 12″ is already available for pre-order at Rush Hour or wait a bit longer for it to hit your local record shop.

OH SHIT…Peter Opolopo just hit me with this instrumental Jazz-Funk/Boogie jam called “Twenty-Second Thoughts” that’s been rotting away on his hard drive since 2005. Besides being Amalia’s hubbie, the tallest man I ever picked up (and threw over my shoulder) & Tokyo Dawn’s parade horse. Peter is also a generous fellow. I suggest you go get that free download over at his Soundcloud page and savour the flavor.

Isn’t that cute?! Mario Sweet used the talkbox to make a special song entitled “Congratulations” for his lovely wife Malice. Nice free download to start the year in romance. In case you missed out on the duo’s earlier project “Happy 2 Year” deluxe edition, make sure you cop that one too on their Bandcamp page.

Most of you know what the deal with the Irish producer they call Krystal Klear. This time around he teams up with the slick Olivier DaySoul to release the heavily eighties influenced “Never Thought You Would Go” and the throwback Swingbeat joint “Wastin’ Time”. Look for a limited vinyl run to hit your local record shop on Monday or go ahead and pre-order this 10″ over at Rush Hour.

A very important question we ask ourselves at times is ‘is there room for non-new music’ on the site. Occasionally it does happen, but today I decided why not?! Yes the biggest part of our selection will be brand new contemporary music, but why not post about some incredibly rare 80′s Soul and Boogie music that about to get reissued by the fellas at Now-Again Records? I really couldn’t find a good reason not to post about this “Close Connection” album from a cult New England ensemble called New World Generation. Just a few reason why you’d be smart to buy this on vinyl. The original will set you back a few C-notes if you find it. Secondly this release contains some previously unreleased songs plus alternate version and is now available at the Stones Throw shop for you purchasing pleasure.

Our inbox was blessed by some soulful music from Diggs Duke who released his debut “Gravity” EP last week via bandcamp. My first thought was ‘where the heck has this guy been hiding’, but I soon realized it was in Maine. I’m sure we’re gonna be posting a lot more of his music in 2012! Good news…the first 200 downloaders can download this one for free by filling in a $0 price or you can also put down any other price you seem fit to support future projects. Diggs will be releasing another EP in a few months and is hoping to get a full-length album out there as well in the future (which I am sure he will be doing on some fortunate independent label). This is the perfect way to start you Monday..and a free download on our Soundcloud page especially for the people who missed out on Bandcamp!

Moar Funk!:

After a lot of positive responses to the 1st “The Future of Funk” mix, me and Mr. Speak decided we wanted to do another one. It wasn’t very easy to keep the quality high, but we did our best on the sequal. I’m very pleased to present to you: “The Future of Funk” Pt. 2. Now Modern Funk music is still pretty niche so we’d like to contribute to the cause in our own way, since we’re not musicians ourselves. Big shout out to artists for hitting us up with music and special thanks to Tokyo Dawn Records who are releasing their “The Boogie” Vol. 2 compilation soon! Get ready for a 40 minute ride down the nasty side.

Go listen to it over at Soundcloud or grab the free download..

Salva’s Obsession:

Salva has been dropping nothing but major releases all over this year. Not everything was my style, I admit, but gotta hand it to PaulĀ for really taking the bull by the horns. His latest “Yellobone” EP will be released next month on FoF Music. I remember meeting Paul last summer in Frisco and he seemed like a quite guy. This year he’s participating in the Red Bull Music Academy. Thanks to FoF for leaking the best song on the EP and making it available as a free download! Grab some Salva & B. Bravo funk while it lasts..
