Dutch youngin’ Jameszoo (Beatt-apes crew member) has been DJ’ing for quite some time now and has played along side of people like Cinnaman (Beat Dimensions). Also keep an eye for him on the production side, but more about that on a different note. His style is very electronic and experimental, yet he tries to put some soulfulness in the mix. Clothing brand No Rest For The Obsessed decided to approach him to make a mixtape and here it is…“NRFTO MIX 001″. Y’skid did the recording, Tommy Smits the photography and NRFTO did the cover.

Ooops!

One time only repress of Hudson Mohawke “OOOPS!” In anticipation of his recent signing to Warp records, he’s releasing a limited edition EP of remixes, rescued from obscurity by the boys behind Lucky Me and Wireblock. then turning it inside out and shaking it down. The four cuts of this ‘Ooops!’ release merge Hud Mo’s raw, uncompromising drum programming and future-proof synths with the glitz of mainstream urban accapellas. Over the course of the EP, Tweet’s accapella of ‘Ooops’ burns into club banging Timbaland mode while Yummy and Sean Simp feel some distorted bass funk, and Ashanti’s Wail gets treatment worthy of a Dabrye and Boards of Canada collab. Pre-Order now on Rushhour. rushhour.

Two years of Buckfast and beats from the likes of edIT, Chesca, Cool Kids, Gaslamp Killer and many, many more – it’s our second home, it’s LuckyMe’s Ballers Social Club. Hudson Mohawke’s debut album “Butter” will be out  October 12th on Warp Records.

“Megawatt R’n’B stars won’t be the only ones to take note of Butter, as the ever-growing global network of bass-craving music fans have been clamouring for new material since his lauded Polyfolk Dance EP earlier this year. On that record, HudMo’s hyper melodic drum-and-synth sidewinders only hinted at the panoramic pop magic that was to come and with it he found himself name checked by the likes of Rihanna, Goldie, Sa Ra, Busy P, Flying Lotus, Mars Volta & Crookers.” warp. picture by Mylou Oord

Nadsroic is the singing / rapping alias of Ciorsdan Brown alongside the young phenom’ producer Hudson Mohawke. To date the young team have only played a handful of shows as Nadsroic including Radio One Sessions and live alongside Optimo – for whom they are also releasing a record on their Oscarr imprint. Ciorsdan was schooled in the Scottish Highlands immersed in folk music before being dropped in the ugly Glasgow metropol of hip hop, techno, electro & club music. With spells living in Copenhagen and currently based in semi-rural Japan it’s hard to say where this 22 year old jetsetter picked up her natural sensibility for real pop and future R&B.

Based in Glasgow, UK, 23 year old Hudson Mohawke currently has the worlds? beat scene in a headlock with his heavy drum programming and cosmic synth slop. In January this year he made his debut release on Warp records with the “Polyfolk Dance EP” and has been dubbed the labels ‘secret weapon’, clocking up serious international mileage with an impressive dj schedule. This release sees Mo explore his love of mainstream hip hop & rnb fused with the air of 1980′s synthetic soul. Out everywhere on digital & 12″ vinyl May 11th on LuckyMe Records. Source: Luckyme.

A 22-year-old hailing from Glasgow, he has been perfecting his craft since the age of 12. After only releasing a handful of productions and painstakingly hard-to-find vinyl releases in the last few years, Hudson Mohawke has managed to become a much talked about producer.

He’s responsible for spearheading a movement of next generation beat music that has exploded from Glasgow this year (also see Rustie, Wireblock, LuckyMe, Numbers). It’s not just a Scottish thing either – these last six months have seen Hudson set off touring America, Australia & all across Europe!

With an ear for a pop hook and a forward thinking production aesthetic, our bets are that 2009 will hold an awful lot of action for this young producer. If you don’t believe us yet, wait for this killer first EP on Warp – with his debut album in the pipeline. warp. Get it now on Rushhour.

Hard to find and hard to please. We know that the easy route is always the least rewarding and that the best stuff is always hidden at the bottom of a pile, or under the counter, or in the basement of Chinese nail salon in the Bronx. That’s why we’re not interested by the tick-box mentality of radio playlists and the broad-brush approach of media empires. We instead present a utopian, transnational vision of culture that always stays one step ahead of fickle fashions. We’ll be covering anything from maracatù from the Pernambuco area of Brazil, the duttiest UK dubstep and low club, Haitian fight songs, Barabadian dancehall or French street-dance expressions.

Always the first to promote the hot sounds of the global-city to an international community of beat heads and music junkies – in issue 001 we broke the sound of Congolese coupé decalé, in issue 002 we announced the arrival of the international ‘beat generation’ and were the first to interview José Padhila, the Brazilian director of Bus 174 and now Elite Squad. And we’re just as likely to hit people upside their head with the new sound of Chinese rock as to hype the latest street sounds to from these shores.

But it’s not just music – we’re also in touch with many of the major street artists and graphic designers who have submitted exclusive artwork for publication – already Invader, HVW8 and LCP United have connected; and our extra stush typography and layout and our specially commissioned cover art has had grafik artists salivating like it was a first edition of Art Review.

And what speaks to us more than a hot artist is a great story – that’s why we’ll be speaking with human rights activist and Olympic winner Tommie Smith and Dominican author Junot Diaz, or looking back at the seminal warehouse parties of 1988 and the way they’ve shaped the music we know and love today. Never happy telling things the way things appear to be, we’re more concerned with the shape of things to come. SHOOK is the uncertaincy principle in full effect. www.shook.fm
