A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to give 3 people a Samsung tablet and have them execute an experiment with it. Having seen what Oh No’s capable of with an iPad, I immediately thought of putting my man I.N.T. (La Melodia) to work on a beat. Together with Nilez, we then picked Mar to lay some of his smooth vocals over this banger. I may be biased but I gotta say the guys outdid themselves on this one. When our colleagues at Laidback Radio asked us to do the ‘Pick of the Week’, we were like lets do this! Now our very first pick is one that we are truly very excited about. We’ve been friends with Jay Hats for a while and admire his musical genius. Just like LaMelodia, Jay is also from Eindhoven. And next to being a producer, he’s also a sound engineer.
Jay Hats’ music is best described as a crossing between tropical world music (loaded with frantic percussion) and contemporary club music. Jay’s music sounds like an honest breath of fresh air on a warm summer night and we dare you to take a dive into this tropical, future vintage. It took ages, or so it seemed, but finally all the audio was gathered and we asked JayHats to mix everything down so it sounds just right. No crappy sound, although please keep in mind that the beats you heard live at the battle may sound a bit different from this compilation. If you truly want to relive the moment I suggest you play these beats in a residential area, preferably as loud as possible. For those who weren’t at the Beat Battle at the Rooms of Red Bull…ya’ll missed a CLASSIC! Either way we asked all contestants to donate one beat so we could put together this compilation album. We called it “The Afterthought” because we thought it necessary to look back on what the f*ck happened that night. BEAT BATTLE AT THE ROOMS OF RED BULL: “THE AFTERTHOUGHT”
Saturday August 8th ‘A Moovmnt with Nalden’ presents the finest beat makers our small country has to offer. Sixteen participants face off against eachother no holds bar! At the “Rooms of Red Bull” they will battle for the title ‘Red Bull Beat Champion’ off the Netherlands and 500 euros worth of prize money.
This year two of the most influential Dutch beat-minded hiphop blogs: Moovmnt.com and Nalden.net are hosting the Beat Battle at the Rooms of Red Bull event for the first time ever in the Netherlands. Our very own Belgian neighbour Lefto will be hosting the event and from 20:00 hours we will have an action-packed evening for you in store with beat makers like: FS Green, I.N.T, Louis Bordeaux, Bluntspeakers, Dyno, Hayzee, J83, Wan, Statik Music, Presto, Marcus Sebastian, Jay Bordeaux, Yskid and more. A handful of participants will be picked by means of a wildcard system and will be invited via Moovmnt.com and Nalden.net! So listen up all you Dutch beat makers…here’s what you have to do to get invited to compete against the cream of the crop.
1. Visit Moovmnt.com or Nalden.net 2. Start zippping a demo folder containing at least 2 or 3 battle beats 3. Send the .zip file or a link to the file to music@moovmnt.com 4. Don’t forget to add your name, email and phone number

To get you in the Christmas spirit this year I.N.T. presents his very own Christmas album, ‘Welcome To Christmas Wonderland’.Inspired by the many Christmas albums released every year, the album consists of all new material produced with Christmas samples only. For 3 weeks producer I.N.T. locked himself in the studio to create this 20 track album full of his own unique Christmas songs. The album is exclusively available for free download through Nalden.net.
I.N.T. is known as one half of the group La Melodia, he has released instrumental projects on labels such as Kindred Spirits, Fat City and Sonar Kollektiv. He was featured on 4Hero’s “Mixing…” compilation and produced tracks and remixes for Frank-N- Dank, Roc C, Rednose Distrikt & others.
