An amazing hour full of facts about Dilla, Slum Village and much much more with guest appearances from De La Soul, Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Questlove, Common, Dwele, etc. You have got to see this!! Yes..I know Dilla month is over..and we heard way too many weak Dilla remixes/ tributes. But must say Melbourne’s M-Phazes turned “Slum Village – Raise It Up” into something new just using the drum pattern and his own westcoast feel. RAISE IT UP for the J Dilla Foundation!!

B.Kyle released his remembrance piece as a tribute to the memory and legacy of J.Dilla. This incredible “Still Shining” documentary was created in 2006 and was released on Dilla’s birthday…which would’ve been today. Happy b-day dawg..
Medicine Show returns in a big way, with a 28-track hip-hop album of Madlib collabs. Included is Supreme Team (with Karriem Riggins) and Jaylib with a previously unreleased track from Madlib & Dilla’s never-finished second album. Visit the Stones Throw website for more info.

In 2008 Stones Throw created a triple 12-inch box set, all based around the Miami Winter Music party “Hella International”. Piet Parra did the sleeve. Madlib remixed two J Dilla tracks from Ruff Draft, “The $” and “Make ‘em NV” that appeared exclusively on this box set. Many of the other tracks – collabs between artists like Dam-Funk & Baron Zen, Four Tet & Aloe Blacc, Percee P & Koushik, Madlib & Karriem Riggins (as Supreme Team) – also appeared here first, and were later released the Chrome Children Vol. 2 CD. This remains the only vinyl release for most of these tracks and Stones Throw has a limited amount for sale again, so get a copy of this limited edition vinyl HERE!

Recently Stones Throw debuted a box set of ten 45′s containing tracks selected by Peanut Butter Wolf from the Stones Throw archive which have never been released on 7-inch singles. It’s an honour and a pleasure to be a part of something as good as BIRDFEST in Rotterdam. Three straight days of bands, film and a sick line-up of DJ’s all related to Jazz & Soul music. Thursday (Oct. 7th) you can enjoy the documentary Still Bill: The Movie plus the sounds of the Analog DJ’s (Miss D & Ozzi B). Friday (Oct. 8th) a Red Bull Music Academy Info Session with Norman Jay will take place followed by “Goodtimes: The Movie”.
On Saturday (Oct. 9th) Moovmnt presents: Timeless “A Suite for Ma Dukes”. This will be the premiere in the Netherlands so all you Dilla heads, music lovers and whatnot…RAISE IT UP!
