VA’s miss Tiffany Paige is best known for her work with Talib Kweli, DOOM, John Robinson, J Rawls, Zo! (Foreign Exchange), Scienz of Life, Khrysis, Carlos Nino and many more. You might have seen a few posts before where her name was mentioned, but she’s back in the studio working on some new music. First up is an unreleased gem produced by Zo! entitled “Seasons” (from ’05 via Phonte). It was supposed to be on her “Dreamwalk” album which never got released. “Such:a:challenge” was produced by ID 4 Windz (Scienz of Life) & Ty Macklin and can be downloaded for FREE at Tiffany’s Bandcamp. Keep track of miss Paige and follow her on Twitter and enjoy the music!

numaads-now-ep

We told ya’ll not to sleep on Nubian queen Esperanzah from Rotterdam before, when she dropped her “Birthday” EP. Together with musical partner Sense she forms the formation Numaads. Their six-track EP called “Now” will be released early June via Project Mooncircle on 12″ vinyl and as a digital iTunes release as well. Our top pick is “Wanting” for the simple fact this was one of the very first songs we ever heard from Esperanzah. FYI…J Rawls and Robot Koch both contributed to this release by each remixing one song of the EP. Enjoy this low quality stream and visit their Myspace to listen to some more joints of the EP!

J. Rawls and John Robinson (together known as “Jay Are”)  offer up their collaborative LP entitled “It’s Jay Are”. The LP is called “The 1960′s Jazz Revolution Again“. Pretty infectious if you ask me, I’m digging it. I’ve gotta say, it’s quite difficult to get your hands on this one since it’s a Japan only release..

Miles Bonny believes that many of the most significant thoughts in life cannot be explained using language – they must be felt. And so they are in his music, a rich swirl of bountiful beats, nuanced vocals and supportive trumpet lines.

Miles has been exposed to Jazz, Latin, HipHop, and classical music since his first breath. Growing with and within the music, he played his first note on the trumpet at age 2.  Frequent trips accompanying his father, trumpeter Francis Bonny, to gigs allowed him to be among musicians of all types including symphonies, broadway, a profound individuals such Tito Puente and Max Roach.

Miles further developed his musical identity after moving to Kansas for college where he began producing hip hop beats for SoundsGood, a hip-hop group he co-founded. Later, as Miles’ compositions evolved, he more frequently utilized his trumpet and singing abilities.  Slowly but surely, the world is taking notice of this Kansas City, Missouri resident. His music has been featured in many publications including Scratch, Urb, Vapors, and XLR8R.

His debut solo project Smell Smoke?  features his own production as well as that of J. Rawls and Joc Max, and is available in stores around the world as well as on iTunes. The Miles Gets Open 7-inch and Closer Love EP were released to critical acclaim on Melting Pot Music and supported by world-class DJs such as the BBC/Radio 1′s Gilles Peterson, Sirius Radio’s DJ Jamad, and Record Breakin’s Junior & Lil’ Dave.

Bonny feels strongly that he owes the influences of his past to create the best, most honest and most progressive music that he can.
2008 will see Miles further develop as a vocalist, producer, DJ, and trumpeter; as he continues to create music that will stand the test of time.

Once deemed “beautifully chaotic” by a friend, Miles Bonny continues to win spirits and minds worldwide as he remains unphased in his mission to free souls.

J.Rawls Presents: The Liquid Crystal Project II. The Liquid Crystal Project is a figment of J.Rawls imagination. For al long time, he had this vision of a different type of jazz and hip-hop fusion. Call this version, Jazz-Hop, because it is jazzy with all the element of hip-hop inside it. It’s most evident in the drums! The boom-bap- of hip-hop from is present: the smoothness of jazz is present. This is something for the thirty-somthing cats that yearn for a more mature music. We grew up on hip-hop and live for the boom-bap, but we don’t really have the tolerance for the nonsense most rappers are talking about today. This is for the hip-hop connoisseur that can appreciate good hip-hop merged with a touch of jazz. The Liquid Crystal Project. J.Rawls ”Available August 2008″
