UK massive in the house. This Friday our big buddy TY and RBMA-ninja Kidkanevil are going to perform in the upstairs room of Amsterdam’s Paradiso. We were asked to host the evening and of course we said yes. MOOVMNT at PARADISO starts of with TY who’ll be performing a lot of new material of his brand new “Special Kind of Fool” album. To bring the transition from Hip Hop to more electronic styles of music, the little homie Jameszoo is going to play some tunes. I heard through the grapevine that he’s releasing his debut album later this year, but more info on that soon. To end the evening Kidkanevil is going to do a Live set with an whole array of different styles of electronic music. Keywords are wonky, dubby and who knows what else he’s got in store. Not only do you get two live shows…you can also visit Oi! afterwards for FREE. Breakage, Distance, N-Type, Gomes & Brutuzz will be playing some bangin’ Dubstep in the main room downstairs in case you want to go apeshit till the break of dawn.

When our colleagues at Laidback Radio asked us to do the ‘Pick of the Week’, we were like lets do this! Now our very first pick is one that we are truly very excited about. We’ve been friends with Jay Hats for a while and admire his musical genius. Just like LaMelodia, Jay is also from Eindhoven. And next to being a producer, he’s also a sound engineer.
Jay Hats’ music is best described as a crossing between tropical world music (loaded with frantic percussion) and contemporary club music. Jay’s music sounds like an honest breath of fresh air on a warm summer night and we dare you to take a dive into this tropical, future vintage. It is my pleasure to introduce you all to Pixelord aka Alexey Devyanin. He’s a Moscow-based veteran of experimental music, best-known for his Gultskra Artikler moniker. His debut four-track EP “Lucid Freaks” brings forth a mixture of spliffed-out 8bit riddims, stumbling Hip Hop beats and a pinch of Euro Dance glam. However unique, the weirdo plastic Pop of Glasgow’s Hudson Mowake is echoed in his tunes as well as bass-driven digital Reggae, Jahtari-style. The artwork of L.A. painter Michael Dotson makes the package complete.
This EP is available online in the form of a FREE DOWNLOAD at Error Broadcast. Also peep the remix EP (which drops later today) with remixes by Jameszoo, Coco Bryce and more. Om-Unit, eLan and Vlooper where suppost to be on the remix project too, but I guess it didn’t work out in the end.

Dutch youngin’ Jameszoo (Beatt-apes crew member) has been DJ’ing for quite some time now and has played along side of people like Cinnaman (Beat Dimensions). Also keep an eye for him on the production side, but more about that on a different note. His style is very electronic and experimental, yet he tries to put some soulfulness in the mix. Clothing brand No Rest For The Obsessed decided to approach him to make a mixtape and here it is…“NRFTO MIX 001″. Y’skid did the recording, Tommy Smits the photography and NRFTO did the cover.
