Earlier this year (yeah we know, kind of a late pass) miss Cecilia Stalin (of Koop) released her tribute project to John Coltrane. “Step Like A Giant” is her way of reaching out to people that haven’t been introduced to Coltrane’s legendary music yet. Thanks Cecilia for paying homage and reaching out to us via social media to let us know about this album. On the production side we have Replife, Flyphonic, Jay Soul, Dhundee, Waiwan and Nate Smith to thank. For more info or to purchase visit Cecilia’s Bandcamp page.

“Breathtaking sparkles, glimmering fractions. What melodical madness causes such satisfaction?”
Times flies I tell ya! Already time for part three of our monthly “Glimering Fractions” mix. March’s birthstone is Bloodstone (see our Soundcloud page for a little more info). Tried to fill almost an hour again with nothing but audible niceness. If you’re feeling this, please be so kind to share it. It’s available for download on our Soundcloud page or you can stream it via Mixcloud as well.

Monkey_sequence.19 from Sendai Japan is one of those producers we don’t hear that much about here in Europe unless you hang out at the record shop all day long. Hopefully this is going to change with his latest 12″ single “Pretend” featuring Mar on the vocals. The original version is kinda on the smooth tip, but wait till you get to the two remixes on here! First we have Kan Sano coming with a beautiful feel good remix that sounds magical at times. As if that wasn’t enough we also have Julien Dyne droppin’ a heavy synth-filled remix that will knock your socks right off. You might have heard me play this in last January’s “Glimmering Fractions” mix, but it’s out officially via Wonderful Noise. Be on the look out for that at your local record shop or go ahead and order it at Rush Hour!

For those that bought Robert Glasper‘s “Black Radio” on CD, already knew about that other dope bonus track entitled “Fever” featuring Hindi Zahra. To be honest, we never bought the CD. I got myself a vinyl copy, so I almost missed out on that one. This also needs to be heard, it’s simply too good to just be on somebody’s CD. Of course we urge you to buy the CD, vinyl and hell even the digital version. Buy everything from Glasper is our opinion!

We’ve been spreading the news about Robert Glasper‘s new album for a quite a while now, simply because it’s the best album we’ve heard so far. Now it might not be be for everybody, but I believe the fusion of Jazz music with Soul and Hip Hop is incredible on “Black Radio”. With all these covers from Nirvana to David Bowie you’ll still be amazed how Glasper this album sounds. The experiment is of course Robert Glasper, Chris ‘Daddy’ Dave, Casey Benjamin and Derrick Hodge. Who knows in 20 years we’ll look back on this as another Blue Note classic. Finally “Black Radio” is available worldwide via and other digital music stores. It’s also being released on wax for the vinyl enthousiasts.

With only one more week to go, I know a lot of you can’t wait for the release of Robert Glasper‘s “Black Radio” album. All we can tell you is that it will be one of the best albums coming out this year. Jazz on a whole new level incorperating soul, hip hop and many more styles…all fusing it into one. February 28th is the day and since we’re just 1 week away, we thought we’d give you another taste of that good stuff. This lovely little bonus track entitled “A Love Supreme” should hold you guys over right? Next week we’ll be posting some more Robert Glasper Experiment for sure.
Somehow “Black Radio” is already available through the Dutch iTunes store, but not in the US yet. We wanted you to hear the entire bonus track this time and urge you to buy your own copy next week!

Lawd have mercy. How we sleep on some stuff at times…it’s bananas. My man MRP told me I should check out Glenn Underground‘s album from a few months ago, entitled “Forgotten Art”. Chicago House at it’s finest with heavy Jazz influences. A definite must cop if you’re into this kinda music! Visit Juno to buy this CD.

L.A.’s Terrace Martin has returned with some sweet new baby making Valentine music in the form of “4 Luv Suite”. Lots of slow sax solo’s which may very well lead to some slow sex action later tonight. Some really good soulful stuff on there like “Your Eyes” featuring Deonas. Make sure you cop this on via and enjoy this day of love!
