Okay I can truly understand why this is Butta! I wasn’t quite sure why it was green though, but after looking it up I found out the name refers to weed/marijuana. Now that we got that out of the way you might ask yourself….who is Green Butter? Well it’s two of Japans sickest producers Budamunk and Mabanua working together on their debut joint-venture album “Get Mad Relax”. My Japanese sucks so the press release wasn’t much use to me. I do know this. Perfect winter time food for your ears. Simply loving this soulful vibe that makes me wanna just chill the f*ck out on the couch. A definite must buy if you ask me, so check if you can purchase this via or try your luck over at Juno. For you vinyl heads there’s gonna be a 7″ coming out with my favorite, “The Smooth Route”, quite soon, so keep an ear out for that one.

You might not have heard, but on the real Grooveman Spot is “Runnin’ Pizza”! I have no clue what that means, but if it means he’s back with a 5-track EP which can be considered as his 3rd album…I’m fine with it. The first thing that pops to mind is that song from Logg called Something Else. That describes best what the sound of this release is like if you ask me. Out now via on Jazzy Sport Records. Also watch out for two 12-inches to be released soon.

This track off TettoryBad’s debut album “Unite”, which will finally get a second worldwide release through Austrian label Sunshine Enterprises early next year, after having been released on Japanese label Jazzy Sport. Massive thanks to RBMA for picking this up and enjoy this one.

All we can say about this release is…WOW. Eventhough this is not the best DJ Mitsu the Beats album ever…it’s still one hell of an album with some killer highlights.
The title track “A Word To The Wise” is not what I hoped it would be, but the second joint ”Ridin’” with Kev Brown and Cy Young made up for this for sure. Together with Jose James Mitsu brings us “Promise In Love” and this nothing less than a beautiful, jazzy song – come on who doesn’t love horns? Now “Night In Vienna” might or might not be your cup of tea, but for me personally this is the nicest (full of flutiness) non-hiphop song on the entire album. It takes me back to the mid seventies with its uptempo soulfulness.
Now after a couple of mediocre tracks we get to the nitty gritty. The best hiphop tracks on “A Word To The Wise” are ”The Game Changer” featuring Georgia Anne Muldrow & Wild Child (certified funky banger!) and the previously leaked ”Untitled” joint with Elzhi. Even if you heard it before…this Detroit banger is still sick. To finish it off…”Dim Skyline” with Mark de Clive Low. What can we say? An attempt to genius, but it just didn’t have enough variation in it to be called that. Nevertheless very pleased to hear Mark de Clive Low again! Okay we’re done…oh wait. Ivana Santilli ends this review with “Playing Again”. Soulful, lovely…done. 8 out of 10..that’s what’s up.
Nothing to add anymore…so check it out for yourself. Put May 27th in your agenda and make sure you buy this highly anticipated album (that won’t disappoint you) released on PlanetGroove/Jazzy Sport!!

This London based singer hasn’t released a whole lot of music yet, but has already worked with the likes of Illa J on ‘Realness’, which was dedicated to J Dilla. Find out a little bit more about this very humble guy.
LeonKing has been playing guitar since he was five years old and at the age of fifteen he started getting into keys combined with programming and producing, then playing bass guitar.
He sees himself as a very soulful vocalist with a strong sense of honesty that comes through in his music.
Now you might have heard the magnificent ‘The Digital Church’ on the second Pound for Pound album released on Jazzy Sport. This is such a mellow, soulful track with a mad sexy bass. By the way…Ben Jones is the one to thank for the production (he also produced the track ‘Knowingness’).
The second track ‘Faze’ was co-produced with, fellow UK singer/producer, Matti Roots. This is a more traditional new soul track, but also very tight!
Be on the lookout for Leon’s forthcoming EP called ‘The Digital Church’ that will be dropping early 2009.
Check out Leon’s Myspace www.myspace.com/leonkingleonking for updates, tour info and future projects. Leon also features on the New Worlds compilation so be sure to check out that album too!
Thanks to http://www.straightnochaser.co.uk for the triple soul special feature and off course thanks to Leon for the wonderful music.

After Simbad’s first album Supersonic Revelation, he’s back with a new project called TettoryBad (aka Simbad, Grooveman Spot & Tettory BLK). If you didn’t hear any music from Simbad before, we suggest you to go dig for “Soul Fever”. The new album entitled Unite was released on Jazzy Sport.
