We all remember “Timeless: The Composer / Arranger Series” that Mochilla brought us a while ago. A few days ago the remixed EP came out containing interesting remixes from Georgia Anne Muldrow, King Britt and Jneiro Jarel. You can either buy a vinyl copy over at the Mochilla shop or go visit .

Back in 2002, Japanese label Handcuts Records put out King Britt’s “Black to the Future EP”. This 12″ was basically a mini compilation of great tunes compiled by King Britt. On the A-side you could find The Society and Charlie Dark, but man that B-side was something else. Besides a YNQ joint and a great Capitol A track it also featured the Dego & Kaidi produced Face solo track “Butter Angel”. Majorly slept on in my opinion. Enjoy!

Saturn Never Sleeps (consisting of King Britt and his fiancé Rucyl) has been working on a proper full lenght release for the beginning of 2011. While in the lab trying out ideas that come from their live performances, Rucyl, wrote a song over the Soul Litchfield beat, “Lightning Bug”. This was the birth of the their EP entitled “Black”. Also included is a short but sweet tune, “Stuck in You” and an ode to the infamous video game “Galaga”.

Soul Litchfield is a new experimental beats project by producer King Britt. Playing with rhythm and texture is the vibe to tripped out instrumental platters. Headnod Acrobatics Volume 1 (SNS0003) is the first in a series of beat driven experiments on the Saturn Never Sleeps label.

AFTA-1 did it again. For GAS’D he put together a mix full of ▲❍▼❏ and you’re a fool if you don’t download this beautiful collection of moments right now. Nice to see that unreleased Muhsinah track produced by Flying Lotus on “Love Is Real Vol. 4: Vessels Behind A Moment”. We simply love the first draft of “7th Sun”, which is sounding off the chain! I heard we can expect more melodic goodness from AFTA-1 soon..
The months following the release of Love is Real Vol. 3 have again affirmed everything that GAS’D, myself and everyone else in the universe living for Love, truly believe in. We are all vessels, placed on this planet to create. Blessed with the freedom to choose our medium, true fulfillment lies in carrying out our calling to its fullest extent. Which is ultimately done, one moment at a time. One Now at a time.
We must choose to act in the present without limiting ourselves by the thought of tomorrow. Give our today our everything. Create at our peak for the only time that matters, NOW. Fulfilling our divine calling while fulfilling our life through love.
This is a collection of moments. Every one of these tracks has been the soundtrack to my life in many key moments throughout my journey. Including very recent ones. As this mix itself was created in a moment. One sleep-free night, three days ago while simultaneously finalizing it’s closing track. “7th Sun,” a rough draft of the most recent work for my upcoming album. So it’s only right that we also drop this mix at a moment’s notice.
Without further a do, Enjoy this collection of Love sounds old, new, and in-between from some past LIR favorites, some good friends, & hopefully some artists you may not have heard before. And of course, you know how we set the vibe…Dim the lights, light one up and float.

Siji, second born of twelve children spent much of his early childhood in Lagos and London before coming to the US to further pursue his musical ambitions. His own cultural heritage combined with the political and social movements of the age, exposed young Siji to the insurgent, politicized music of the Afrobeat legends Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, Tony Allen as well as the soulful grooves of Marvin Gaye, Al Green, and Otis Redding.
The self-taught piano, percussion and acoustic bass player released an EP. He quickly garnered much respect, admiration and credibility which led to a lucrative worldwide publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music. Siji relocated to New York and performed in renowned venues has worked with a number of producers, but it is his collaboration with Osunlade, who produced music for Musiq Soulchild, Eric Benet, and classic R&B vocalist Patti Labelle, that fostered in Siji a love of production. It was only last year that the “Adé Siji” album dropped on his own label IVY Records and what an album it is. The self-titled sophomore album “Adé Siji”, is a full portrayal of where Siji currently stand as an artist and human being and the experiences that have come to shape his character. It even has some guest collaborations by King Britt and Rich Medina on there. I must admit I kinda slept on this one and rediscovered it recently. For those that love a medley of Jazz Fusion, Soul and Highlife…purchase “Adé Siji” HERE! Thnx to Apple Juice Break for the inspiring post and peep “Yearning For Home” video after the jump.

The original BB Queen Bahamadia, with her distinctive smooth-monotone flow, has quietly faded into the background. Her first album “Kollage” was a hiphop classic and till this day still brings a smile to my face whenever I hear it. Don’t even get me started on that remix the Roots did for “I Confess”…
Anyway, in 2000 she came back with yet another (so forgotten) classic! For many people “BB Queen” was the first time they ever heard Dwele sing and produce & that joint with Slum Village…still sick!
It wasn’t a total surprise that Bahamadia left us with a 5 year hiatus again to come back in 2005 with the slept on album of the week “Good Rap Music”. In my opinion it’s not her best album, but still it does have a couple of nice joints on it worth checking out. The title track was produced by Kev Brown and it also features producers like King Britt and Hezikiah Davis. You gotta love the smart-ass rhymes and buttery flow she’s become so well known for. In case you’re curious and want to buy this album…try Amazon!
Oh peep this DJ Rahdu “Total Wreck: The Encyclopedia of Bahamadia” mix posted by our friends over at BamaLoveSoul. Since their podOmatic reached it’s bandwith be sure to download it HERE.
