The following footage was recorded during the free performance that the Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble hosted in Los Angeles recently, featuring some of today’s brightest talent. You’ve probably seen the video with Bilal already and now get ready for another amazing piece of music. This time around, check out the video from the Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble featuring LA based and Brainfeeder master-mind, Flying Lotus. Alongside the all-star cast of musicians, enjoy everyone doing a rendition of “Drips” from Flying Lotus’s recently released album “Cosmogramma” and “Take Notice” an arrangement of a J Dilla original from his “Ruff Draft” EP. The audio portion of “Drips/Take Notice” is also available for free mp3 download via Miguel Atwood-Ferguson’s Bandcamp page.

When L.A. based Erik Rico and Marc Mac (4hero) hooked up in the studio this summer, “Direct Soul” was born. The Direct Soul EP was really captured in a moment of time with all 4 tracks recorded in one late afternoon session in Marc’s small Bedfordshire studio. The only guideline was not to let the boundaries of tempo & style limit the creation. Marc’s Afro-Latinic frame fused with Tech-Soul forms the bedding for Erik’s unique vocal style. A real modern day fusion many musical stylese and stretching our perception of SOUL! I have no info yet on a release date, but I think their Bandcamp page is coming very soon.

Originally from Jamaica and now residing in LA, P.U.D.G.E recently dropped his full debut “Idiot Box” album on Ramp Recordings. I was listening to it a couple of weeks back, but totally forgot all about it. Untill I saw Mymanhenri posting about it on his blog. P.U.D.G.E bakes up a mixture of heavily sampled P-funk with some soulfulness topped of with a sprinkle of pure noise. Peep out some snippets on the Rush Hour website and if you do like, please BUY.

Ex RBMA participant – miss TOKiMONSTA – is back with a brand new album called “Midnight Menu” which will be dropping next week on Japanese Art Union Recordings. I suggest you mark July 28th in your calender and draw a cute little bunny rabbit next to it. I heard some nice tracks on there so have a “Sweet Day”, enjoy the “Cheese Smoothie” and god bless your “Bready Soul”. We got to pick an exclusive track of the new album and stream it for our visitors (that’s you) so we had to pick this banger. Never had a “Cheese Smoothie” before, but I’ll try anything as long as TOKi’s buying. Big up to Yuji and Jennifer….oh if you want to order already do so HERE.

Exile (aka Mr. Funky Worm) just dropped his “Radio Bonus” album and made it available as a FREE download. You can find a lot of remixes on there, but also some cuts that didn’t make the “Radio” album. Also…Exile’s official website – www.thedirtyscience.com – is a fact. The site will be a center point for upcoming Exile related content, where users can keep updated with upcoming shows, videos, music, etc. Be on the lookout for his “AM/FM” album that’s going to be released August 31st on Plug Research.

So here we are back in Amsterdam again. I wanted to write something in Frisco, but I decided to hang back and relax. Enjoying the Bay to the fullest was what I did, so sorry for the post lagging on my part. In L.A. we met up with the Bravo Bros. and had some good old fun with dem sexy hoochie mama’s. The Brasilian house party was the icing on the cake and we had hella fun (except for the racial slurs). We drove all the way to Frisco the next day and drank a couple if Tsingtao’s at Sweater Funk. After some shopping at Haight, we had a blast at Change The Beat where AFTA-1 was playing. Nice meeting Dibiase, Low Limit, B.Lewis, Spinnerty and of course the CTB crew (Centipede, Dials & Salva). We went digging for records, checked out the Park & Coultrain and hung out with the Bayonics for a while. Just some random pictures, some taken by K-Murda and some by me. Next year I’m going back to Cali..

Last week me and K-Murda went digging at Rasputin’s in the Bay and we saw Dwele new “W.Ants W.Orld W.Omen” album. We could only listen to half of the songs, so we decided to listen to the whole thing first before deciding whether to buy or not. Sorry for being late, but in the end I got a chance to listen to it more closely. Whenever there’s a DJ Quik production on there…I say buy! Not Dwele’s best album, but still you should go to and support some of that Motor City Soul.

Ever since I was 13 or something, I loved MC Eiht. During my visit to L.A. I got an email from the guys from Melting Pot saying that Brenk had produced a brand new jam for Eight and that the video was out. Just had to share this one with ya’ll for old time’s sake…
