January’s birthstone is the Garnet. It’s name comes from the 14th century Middle English word, gernet, meaning ‘dark red’. Enjoy our first mix of the year and spread the word if you dig this.

For all you Dutchies…this Sunday Jesse is performing Live at Toko MC in Amsterdam as a part of his “The Romantic Movement” tour (more info HERE). A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to give 3 people a Samsung tablet and have them execute an experiment with it. Having seen what Oh No’s capable of with an iPad, I immediately thought of putting my man I.N.T. (La Melodia) to work on a beat. Together with Nilez, we then picked Mar to lay some of his smooth vocals over this banger. I may be biased but I gotta say the guys outdid themselves on this one. Amsterdam-based singer Mar comes from a musical fam with his dad being a musician and also his older sister Ninthe. Earlier this year he released the “Conversations With Her” EP together with Full Crate on Melting Pot Music. His latest project is called “Mar Variations” and the concept is that he basically adds a little extra vocal niceness to an already existing song, instrumental, etc. Louis Bordeaux his “1st Session” was already a gem, but with some subtle additions it becomes ever shinier then before. The third edition of The Gardens is a special one. Our friends Full Crate & FS Green have recently released their Hi-Hat Club Vol. 5: Eggs And Pancakes album on Melting Pot Music and this needed to be celebrated. I’d like to thank the guys from Cologne for last weeks release party in Germany and this Friday it’s time for the Amsterdam release party at the Bitterzoet.
