Earlier this week Stones Throw released MED‘s “Classic” album which remained a little on the downlow for me. It has so many amazing producers on there that you would think this was a shure hit, but quite honestly I dunno. It’s not a bad album, but with all these productions from Madlib, Oh No, Alchemist and Karriem Riggins I was expecting a bit more I guess. Don’t get me wrong. This album has some dope joints on there like “INT’L” produced by Georgia Anne Muldrow and “Classic” produced by Karriem Riggins. Perhaps in this day and age this is just what a great album is supposed to sound like?!! Check the rest of the album out here on or get a limited 3xLP (with instrumentals) over at Stones Throw.

Man I love waking up Saturday morning with video’s like these. I guess it kinda reminds me of Yo MTV Raps! MED‘s “Blaxican” was produced by Madlib and is taken from the “Classic” album dropping November 1st. The video was director by Mochilla’s Eric Coleman and shot in LA as you can see.
LRG Clothing and Dirty Science team up and present Exile’s “Intro To The Outro” mixtape which contains only music produced by him and was mixed by himself as well. The mixtape features some older songs as well as brand new unreleased jams from MF Doom, Blu, Fashawn, Co$$ & Bun B and is available as a FREE download. Alex’s first self-produced album “4TRK MIND” will also be out October 4th, via Soul Spazm & Dirty Science so watch out for that one!

Madlib‘s “Medicine Show #9: Channel 85 presents Nittyville”, a full-length hip-hop album featuring Detroit’s Frank Nitt, will be out May 17 on Stones Throw as on CD as well as on limited edition 3/LP vinyl. Nittyville is also perhaps the most traditional of the series: one MC, one producer, and a rap record all about stunts, blunts and hip-hop. Enjoy this early leak of “What Can U Tell Me” featuring MED and pre-order if you like.

In true spirit of The Do-Over party, Volume 2 of The Limited Edition Do-Over 10” Series (1,000 copies) is a Southern California affair from The OC to The OX. “This” Side features DJ Rhettmatic of the World Famous Beat Junkies showcasing his chops on the MPC , while Stones Throw’s MED raps about a day in the life at The Do-Over (“club packed like Shaq in a Scion truck”). “That” Side features new school beatsmith Free The Robots delivering a melodic synth heavy beat brigade that takes you on an emotional journey. 29-year-old beatsmith Apollo Brown reps the D and comes with a very recognizable style on his latest “The Reset” album. In 2009 he won the Detroit Red Bull Big Tune Championships and competed in the national finals. Apollo then signed as a producer with the Mello Music Group last December.
Up till now he has released the “Skilled Trade” (2007) and the “Make Do” (2009) Beat Tapes. Those made collaborations possible with Detroiters Finale, Danny Brown and Kam Moye aka Supastition. On “The Reset” he gets some help from Rapper Big Pooh, Black Milk, Declaime, Buff 1, MED, Grap Luva, John Robinson, Kenn Starr, Oddisee and Diamond District.
There’s definitely some nineties influences to be heard on this album, like “Lower The Boom” getting into that Wu-Tang vibe or “Ghetto Soul Music”. I suggest you give this one a listen and in case you want to BUY it head on over to
