Back in January we received some extremly nice drafts from an upcoming project called “Proceduri de Rutina” by Hubert Daviz. He has been working on this project by sampling only Rumanian Jazz records since early December 2009. The eight tracks strong release was supposed to come out as a free release on Kwatro, but our friends at Melting Pot Music picked this up and now it’s due to drop at the end of this month on limited vinyl (500 copies). These soulful vibes remind me of something from the past eventhough I can’t quite put my finger on what. We were given an exclusive non-album track by the guys from MPM to share with you guys. “The Gin Diaries” are about beats, love and Tanqueray. Suff Daddy is a gentleman who knows about the good life: Jamaican Kush, rare soul records and beautiful women make his day. And Suff Daddy ain’t no greedy man. On his new record, he shares his music with friends like Miles Bonny, Fleur Earth, Mariama, Mar and Jim Dunloop. We call “The Gin Diaries” a beat novel, consisting of 13 musical short stories. Some have lyrics and some have not but they are all snaphots of the life of Suff Daddy. “Özdemir” speaks about Suff’s penchant for Turkish breaks, “Vienna” reflects on a recent trip to Vienna and “Konnopke” is giving props to the best currywurst in Berlin. Whereas the songs with Miles, Fleur, Mariama and Mar deal with love, despair and everything in between. MPM

Whut?!?! Volume 4 already? The Hi-Hat Club is on a roll and this time they present volume 4: “Chop Shop” by Brenk (Vienna) and Fid Mella (Italy). Last year we already informed you this guy Brenk cooks up one killer Gumbo! This Austrian heayweight beatchampion has produced for the likes of Guilty Simpson, MC Eiht and Miles Bonny. He introduces his protegee, the Italian beatmaker Fid Mella, with this cats like Kev Brown and EdO G.
Enough with the name calling already…these cats are just on sum next shit. Melting Pot is starting pre-sale in two weeks, but in the meantime they were so nice to share this with us. I remember I had a conversation with Mar last week, and I said that “I Said” was my least favorite track on the EP. Well I think I need to take that back after seeing the video. Full Crate & Mar once again proved that visuals can add a new dimension to audio, cause this video is exactly what the song needed. If you haven’t bought this one yet…here you go

Fashionably late, but right on time we present to you the “Conversations With Her” EP. Now a lot of you got hip to Full Crate & Mar through us and it’s only logic that we support these guys like we have been doing from the get go. This soulful, soothing piece of music was something we’ve been looking forward to for a long time and finally it’s here. Thanks to Melting Pot Music for releasing this and hope to see a lot of you at the release party Saturday 23rd at the Bitterzoet in Amsterdam (more info after the jump).
Eric Roberson was so impressed with “She Was Fly” that he decided to record some slick vocals over it. That version is also on the EP, together with my favorite joint “Surreal Moments”. Just had to stream that one, cuz it has been on repeat for over a month now. I urge you to get your digital copy via or for the vinyl-lovers that good old wax via HHV or Loop23! This just got in from my man Crate. Just got off the phone and he has a pneumonia as well. Stupid H1N1 got us all. Anyway…in case you hadn’t seen yet. Just got this nice e-mail from the guys over at Melting Pot Music (sorry we can’t make it this Saturday to the Beat BBQ Oliver) with some good news. DJ Day and Miles Bonny teamed up and conjured up the lovely Raphael Saadiq tribute 12″ – “Instant Saadiq” – containing three songs from Raphael’s “Instant Vintage” classic. They got the Day X Miles treatment and Swiss artist Anna-Lina provided some very beautiful artwork..

Berlin’s very own Suff Daddy is coming with a 2nd EP, but it won’t be out before this autumn. First he’ll be dropping an instrumental EP named “Hi-Hat Club” and another 7inch single (on Melting Pot Music??). I was really impressed by this new track, because we heard Suff get down and dirty on the “Nightmare“ remix before, but with “Deep Shit” it gets deeper than that. I love the whole laid back vibe and more to follow from this German cat!
