Last week Trek Life dropped his “Everything Changed Nothing” album and at first I wasn’t really blown away. It took me a while, but after having listened to it a second time I think you all should give it a listen as well. Loving some of those Oddisee productions on there and the fact that OlivierDaySoul is singing on a bunch of songs helps too. Really love the title song and also “I’d Rather Be” is in the top 3. Let me know what you guys think and to purchase a digital copy head on over to

After Cologne’s JR & PH7 released their debut album “The Standard” last year they’re back in bizness with their next effort, simply entitled “The EP”. The six track strong EP features artists like Blu, Termanology, Oddisee, Ohmega Watts & Trek Life and sounds fresh. I really like what these guys are bringing out time after time and they always work with vocalists I dig (accept for Eternia…not my thing). I urge you guys to check this one out for yourselves and let us know what you think. This EP might just be sort of a warm up for even bigger things to come…in the form of their sophomore album “The Update”. It’s due to drop this fall on Soulspazm Records, but more info on that later. Make sure to support good music like this and buy “The EP” on now!

As a prelude to Trek Life’s forthcoming album “Everything Changed Nothing”, Oddisee gave away a free WESTCOAST beattape. This is what he says:
I’ve always loved production inspired by funk. when it comes to funk inspired hip hop, no body does it like the west. While I was on the west producing Trek Life’s album that inspiration went further than being a fan. I don’t know if it was the palm trees, beaches, or burgers but this is what I was making in LA.

Earlier this year we had the chance to be a part of the Red Bull Music Academy, which took place in London this year. We tried to live the life of a participant and also brought our video camera along. You might come to the conclusion we are not very skilled videographers (yet), but nevertheless we wanted to share some of the footage we shot in London.
Today was marked in many agenda’s already, because it’s the official release date of the ‘RBMA Various Assets 2010′ compilation album. This time it’s available for everyone in digital form, so just head on over to the Red Bull Music Academy website for a high bitrate DOWNLOAD. Massive shout out to Deluge for the last minute edit and all the people we met in London. Next year Tokyo!!
Good news for everyone! The Red Bull Music Academy is dropping the “Various Assets London 2010″ compilation album on July 19th. If you don’t know the deal yet, check out this previous post and educate yourself. We remember this year’s Academy as if it was yesterday and we’d like to give a big fat shout out to all the participants we met, hung out with and befriended. Can’t stress enough what a fantastic project this is and topping it off with a compilation album is the right way to do it.
We were given the honour of bringing you this exclusive track by TOKiMONSTA featuring Andreya Triana, Oddisee and the homie Tranqill entitled “Jackin4beats Pt. 4″. Without a doubt one of our favourite tunes on the compilation. But with artists like Dâm-Funk, Hudson Mohawke, Robin Hannibal, James Pants, 00Genesis, Katy B, Space Dimension Controller, Kidkanevil, B. Bravo, Myele Manzanza, Ad Bourke, Swede:art and a whole lot more on there, you know it gotsta be funky. Reserve some space on your harddrive for this FREE high bitrate (320) release. Unlike previous years, this release will be available digitally and for some lucky bastards in physical form too. Spread the word, download, smile, cry…do whatever you feel like doing.

Yeah I know we kinda late, but all things have a reason. Anyways I didn’t want you guys to miss out on this 1 killer joint on TiRon‘s new “MSTRD” release. Nev and me thought long & hard and concluded we waited waaaaaay too long for this to drop, while in the end we were kinda disappointed. Please do enjoy “The Richers” featuring Blu and Asher Roth…produced by the homie Oddisee. Download the entire thing HERE!

29-year-old beatsmith Apollo Brown reps the D and comes with a very recognizable style on his latest “The Reset” album. In 2009 he won the Detroit Red Bull Big Tune Championships and competed in the national finals. Apollo then signed as a producer with the Mello Music Group last December.
Up till now he has released the “Skilled Trade” (2007) and the “Make Do” (2009) Beat Tapes. Those made collaborations possible with Detroiters Finale, Danny Brown and Kam Moye aka Supastition. On “The Reset” he gets some help from Rapper Big Pooh, Black Milk, Declaime, Buff 1, MED, Grap Luva, John Robinson, Kenn Starr, Oddisee and Diamond District.
There’s definitely some nineties influences to be heard on this album, like “Lower The Boom” getting into that Wu-Tang vibe or “Ghetto Soul Music”. I suggest you give this one a listen and in case you want to BUY it head on over to

So yes, the time will come when you’ll be able to support and purchase, but for now grab this FREE DWNLD! Shout out to Put Me On It for promoting this release.
We streamed at a 128kbps bitrate, so head on over to Oddisee’s Bandcamp to download the entire “Odd Seasons” set in high quality. The last and 4th installment is here and has some guest features that makes your mouth water. OlivierDaySoul contributes to 1 of my favorite track on the album…“In The Now” while Muneshine and Oddisee himself team up and explain us how life is a “Two Way Street”. Here’s what Oddisee had to say about the project.
Well here it is… has it really been a year? You know, When I first got in to music I did it purely for the fun and excitement of it. As the seasons came an went my hobby transformed into a full on career. The “Odd Seasons” series was a way for me to be creative for no reason other that creativity. That’s why they’ve been free releases. In order to remind my self why I do music, I have to allow some of my works to be created and released for well…. I hate to say it but…. “The Love”

HudMo + OliverDaySoul = WIN! In this latest “Joy Fantastic” video we see how video’s should look like in the year 2010. The animation is crazy nice and this one is going on repeat. Hopefully we can expect that new OliverDaySoul project with Oddisee very soon, cuz we heard a little sumthin’ and it sounded very promising.
