Announced only a few weeks ago, Oh No follows up Dr. No’s Oxperiment by diving again into Egon’s record collection for a region-based intrumental beat album. This time he’s headed into the album inspired-by and sampled-from rare 60s and 70s Ethiopian funk, jazz, folk, soul and psychedelic rock.
Even if you’ve never heard an instrument tuned to the qenet scale before, even if you’re more into ballads than you are tezetas, Oh No’s transformative effect on his source material will blow you away in its otherworldy funkiness. Stonesthrow

Oh No is doing an album of all Ethiopian samples. This is a followup to his joint “Dr. No’s Oxperiment” (used by Mos Def, Skate 2 Soundtrack, etc). Stones Throw is dropping this exclusively on stonesthrow.com in a few weeks, but Oh No just did a snippets mix of it. Thnx to JJ for the heads up..

German producer fLako just dropped his beattape called “First Spaceshit On The Moon”. I personally love that joint with Cali native Miki Vale eventhough it’s not on the beattape. Miki has already collaborated with OhNo, Dudley Perkins aka Declaime, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Kankick and more so keep this lady in your sight. There are 30 mostly unheard ‘bumtschaks’ on this freebie and I must say….some hot shit on there so click HERE!

Declaime’s astormsacomin is available now. If you’ve heard of Dudley Perkins, you’ve heard of Declaime, as they are the same MC. Dudley Perkins is Declaime’s government name. He’s most noted as a vocal muze in Madlib’s creations, and he does a lot of work with Georgia Anne Muldrow. Astormsacomin features Flying Lotus, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Oh No, LMNO and Hudson Mohawke. Thanks to YYY.

Samon Kawamura has finished his work on Unfold, his second soloalbum, within a short year Unfold, the successor of Translations (Samon ´s debut-album released on Nesola in the middle of 2007), came into existence. The most obvious difference in comparison with its predecessor is the participation of vocalists/rappers, whose selection nearly seems to follow a concept.
With Madlib´ s brother OH NO and Aloe Blacc two Stonesthrow-artists stood in front of the mic. The contributions of Om’Mas Keith (SA-RA Creative Partners) and the producing MC Ta’Raach fit in the picture as well with regard to the creative backgrounds and interests, the whole thing being rounded out by Kev Brown from the Jazzy Jeff-camp and Laura López Castro.
With Unfold there nearly is a balance between songs with and without vocals. The message being articulated by the lyrical contributions to the songs is basically characterized by passion for the art form and some kind of authentic and serious contemplation on the subject matter.
