VA’s miss Tiffany Paige is best known for her work with Talib Kweli, DOOM, John Robinson, J Rawls, Zo! (Foreign Exchange), Scienz of Life, Khrysis, Carlos Nino and many more. First up is an unreleased gem produced by Zo! entitled “Seasons” (from ’05 via Phonte). It was supposed to be on her “Dreamwalk” album which never got released. “Such:a:challenge” was produced by ID 4 Windz (Scienz of Life) & Ty Macklin and can be downloaded for FREE at Tiffany’s Bandcamp. After countless remixes, productions, features, as well as his critically acclaimed [Re]Mixtape Series, Trackademicks has finally come with his full-length debut LP, State Of The Arts. Twelve tracks deep, Trackademicks handles 100% of the production duties. The record enlists a healthy dosage of Track’s known collaborative cohorts, including Little Brother/Foreign Exchange founder Phonte (“Fool On The Hill”), Windy City favorite Kid Sister (“Quit Yo Job”), and the soulful Teedra Moses (“Face The Music”). Along with his own HNRL crew, Oakland favorites Mistah F.A.B. (“Stop It!”) and Goapele (“State Of The Arts”) also make the cut.
Available at all digital retailers, State Of The Arts comes with a substantial 20-something page booklet containing extensive artist liner notes written by Trackademicks himself. In the upcoming weeks Track will also begin releasing video liner notes for select songs off the record. The full digital package also includes previously unreleased bonus material. HNRL Crew

Phonte from Little Brother/Foreign Exchange took some time to upload some unreleased gems on his Twitter/SwiftFM. From early Little Brother tracks to the Slum Village“Further” demo. Some of it is just unfinished stuff and not that great, but a nice way to see Phonte’s progression in the last 5 years. The track that stands out most is Kaidi Tatham‘s remix of Total Science’s “Wasting Time” featuring Darien Brockington. Enjoy…Photo: Tobias/Kompleks

Guess it’s that time that Cali is coming out of the woodworks with new music. This time it’s Trackademicks featuring Phonte from Little Brother/The Foreign Exchange. Personally I love the 1-O.A.K. remix so had to stream that one at a low bitrate for ya’ll. The original version is available as a free download via the Honor Roll Bandcamp page or get the entire single on

One of the most anticipated albums for this fall has to be The Foreign Exchange their “Authenticity” album. I’ve just listened to it and in my opinion it is a worthy follow up album after having been nominated for a grammy last year. Yes it’s a bit more accessible, but honestly FE has stayed true to themselves and it’s simply a beautiful album. Of course we find guest appearances from longtime contributors YahZarah, Darien Brockington, Zo! and Median. On “Make Me A Fool” we hear Jesse Boykins III , who in my opinion is one of the most talented vocalists on this album. In only a few days “Authenticity” hits the stores, so act accordingly and BUY the album through the FE website or ..

For over a decade the Red Bull Music Academy has given young, upcoming artists a place to develop themselves. Not only do they learn, but a very important part of the RBMA is creating and exposing! What better way to do this than to record a compilation album together with fellow participants as well as more established musicians and sometimes even legends.
Under the name ‘Various Assets’ this has been done several times. These CD’s were never released to the general public and contain unreleased material as well as music that has been released like Flying Lotus his “Tea Leaf Dancers” featuring Andreya Triana. These compilation CD’s were recorded all over the world from Melbourne to Seattle and from Toronto to Barcelona.
We from Moovmnt had never actually heard all of this material and thought it would be a good idea to select our favourites and release it as a mix. Some music you might have heard on our website already, but I can assure you that some of this material has been waiting, hidden in the dust, to come out of your speakers and give you a taste of the wonderful things that are going on at the Red Bull Music Academy.
We tried to keep the mix close to our personal taste and yet it contains a divers array of different kinds of music. Enjoy some tasteful hip hop, nu-soul, future funk, soulful house, electronic music with a dash of dubstep to go out with a bang. Now we’re off to London to soak up some of that RBMA energy, so enjoy this one. We’ll be keeping you updated about what goes on behind the scenes at the Academy, so tune in for some exclusive footage, music, etc.
MOOVMNT consists of a small group of like-minded music devotees, that blog about and provide you with the best in contemporary Soul, Hip Hop, Electronica, Beats, Funk, House and many other different styles of music.
