It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Soulstress Neco Redd, but she’s back with a new EP entitled “No Discipline”. You might remember Neco from her collaboration with Platinum Pied Pipers. Detroit’s Finale and Fat Father (Detroit Riots) bless the EP with some wordplay while we got Tony Ozier and Nick Speed on production. Enjoy this FREE download…get it right HERE. Electric Wire Hustle are a New Zeland based band and have just released their new, self-titled EP. The group consists of David ‘TaayNinh’ Wright (multi-instrumentalist and producer), Myele Manzanza (drums), Mara TK (vocals / guitarist / turntabilist / producer) and Benny Tones (sound engineer and producer). Developing their own sound and twist on modern hip-hop, psychedelic and soul, the music of EWH reaches forward while referencing key points of music’s past. Thick drums and percussion layered with synth lines, hints of the Fender Rhodes and nylon stringed guitars have your neck snapping while your ears crane to its soulful vocals … a future soul sound that fuses Marvin Gaye, Charles Mingus and Funkadelic with the likes of J Dilla, PPP and SA-RA Creative Partners.
On the album there are some guest appearances by artists like Georgia Anne Muldrow, Stacy Epps, Declaime (aka Dudley Perkins) and guitarist Billy TK. Check out the “Perception” video after the jump and BUY their album if you like what you hear. Big ups to Ray Knowledge for tipping us off…

Why is it that some artists get slept on so badly? I mean come on people. Reggie B has that killer voice, plays funky like no other and he’s part of the INnatesounds Crew. That combination alone should be lethal as hell, but not everybody is picking up on this talented artist yet. Earlier today I noticed that Reggie dropped a little sumting on Twitter. I wanted to share it with ya’ll so enjoy “A Few Steps Forward” (produced by Saadiq from Platinum Pied Pipers) and “Get Down With Me” both from the forthcoming “Get Down With Me” album released on their own INnatesounds label. Get your ass ta steppin’ and buy Reggie’s new album on iTunes. Just had to add a sneak preview, cuz “Outergalactic Funk” is exactly what some of you cats wanted to hear!

Big homie Kenny Fresh just hooked us up with some brand new Hawthorne Headhunters music and you gotta love it. For those who don’t know HH…the trio exists of Black Spade, I, CED (or Ced No) and Proh Mic.
The possitively sounding “Never Give Up” – which co-stars vocals from Coultrain - is an unreleased outtake from the same 2007 sessions that the group’s forthcoming debut EP was pulled from. This will be their very first release being put out by HVW8 on June 20th.
The soulful “Get Up!” has been in my top ten ‘on repeat’ tracks for a while now and “PCM” with Dam Funk is epic! Keep your ears out for a Fresh Selects mixtape from the Hunters before their EP drops. This should keep you satisfied untill then.
