The little homie Onra has been busy with his “Chinoiseries” Pt. 2 which came out yesterday on All City. The whole concept is crazy nice and if you’re into bangin’ hip hop beats this will hit the spot. Congratulations on a dope sequel homie. Really like the samples and chops, you dug pretty deep for this one. I remember earlier this year when Onra was performing with Buddy Sativa in Amsterdam. I remember him playing “Fight Or Die” and thinking…damn this beat kicks. No doubt we had to stream this one for your enjoyment! And yet again DJ Spinna mixes the entire “Strange Games & Funky Things” Vol. 5 into one smooth mix for you to enjoy. On the 28th the compilation drops on BBE so get a taste of that funky stuff in the meanwhile.
Onra asked us to post this on our website, because he is looking for cover art for his upcoming “Chinoiseries Pt. 2″. He decided to hold a contest and kinda ‘pre-chopped’ some images if you will. See this as him handing you some relevant samples and asking you to chop it up into some music. Now I know there are some graphic designers out there that will love this idea of ‘samples’ being chosen for them to work with and I think it’s a good idea to get on the same page. For all you graphic designers that would like to give it a try, HERE is the download link to the zip file containing everything you need.
Now the assignment is simple. Onra is asking you guys to design front and back covers for vinyl. Including the circles on the vinyl (4 of them, as it’s a double vinyl release). The winner wins a few records and CD’s from Onra’s discography…authographed if needed plus a free T-shirt. Since the record is going to be out late 2011, your deadline is October 31st.
Pt. 2 sounds a lot like the first Chinoiseries, but perhaps a bit more tragic, raw and dramatic. You understand Onra not sharing the music with you guys. I’d like to end this post with some hotness Onra dropped via Soundcloud recently and a few indications Onra left for the designers.

Welsh production crew Darkhouse Family aka Don Leisure and Metabeats drop their debut “Family Trees” EP via Fat City. Heavy synth-work, syrupy melodies, processed sample snippets is what you can expect. Cali-based DJ Seano was hanging out with a few buddies (Cook Classics, JKim, Inka One and Greg The Dude) while the room filled with smoke. Meanwhile Seano did a 1-take mix and this is the result. This is some Jazz/Breaks/Funk shit with a lot of samples/originals. It was aired on a local radio station (Soundwaves Radio) and Seano wanted to share it with anybody who might be interested. Although it’s not your avarage Moovmnt post, it’s the foundation of a lot of modern day music and we grew up on this shit. So we thought you’d might like something slighty different for a change. Been listening to The Ma Dukes Collection (Mixed By Rhettmatic J. Rocc and Houseshoes). You can get this CD on some tours of artist related to J.Yancey. On this mix there’s another mix from J.Rocc with some Dilla samples. I know we already posted a Dilla sample mix BUT this mix reminded me of a tape with tracks before Fantastic Vol 1. Don’t know how that got into our hands but I do know y’all need to hear it if you haven’t already. So listen to that here and download that Dill Withers mix. Question: What’s the The Hustle sample and the track of the 10.24 sample. First who knows one of the 2 gets something special.
