Frisco’s Low Limit is also known as one half of the formation Lazersword. What a coincidence I was just talking about these guys earlier today and I heard they have a new project coming up on Innovative Leisure. Sneak a peak HERE to see the artwork for their upcoming single “Batman”. Anyways…“Trapper Keeper” has been out for a minute, but the video was released a few days ago. No doubt Bryant is in the face melting business and this video proves it.
So here we are back in Amsterdam again. I wanted to write something in Frisco, but I decided to hang back and relax. Enjoying the Bay to the fullest was what I did, so sorry for the post lagging on my part. In L.A. we met up with the Bravo Bros. and had some good old fun with dem sexy hoochie mama’s. The Brasilian house party was the icing on the cake and we had hella fun (except for the racial slurs). We drove all the way to Frisco the next day and drank a couple if Tsingtao’s at Sweater Funk. After some shopping at Haight, we had a blast at Change The Beat where AFTA-1 was playing. Nice meeting Dibiase, Low Limit, B.Lewis, Spinnerty and of course the CTB crew (Centipede, Dials & Salva). We went digging for records, checked out the Park & Coultrain and hung out with the Bayonics for a while. Just some random pictures, some taken by K-Murda and some by me. Next year I’m going back to Cali..
Now I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is that the guys from HVW8 are sharing this Master Blazter mix full of unheard goodies from Dam-Funk, Computer Jay and J1. The bad news is that I was hoping to hear some actual Master Blazter material, but alas. Another bit of bad news for me personal is that I’m gonna miss them perform live in San Francisco at the Mezzanine July 1st. That evening I fly back to L.A. so I guess I’m shit outta luck.
Three musicians with their own distinctive styles have come together to form Master Blazter. Each individual is an integral part of the whole – each one necessary to keep funk music alive, taking it to unforeseen heights. Los Angeles’ very own DJ Kutmah is responsible for mixing it all up into one funked up mix and I’d like to thank HVW8 for steadily bringing out good music and for the goodies you guys sent us recently!
Welcoming you back from a wonderful weekend and into this music monday, we bring you the brand new “A.M.” EP from Frisco’s Freddie Joachim. Available for FREE download (high quality) via the Mellow Orange or Organology Bandcamp. Freddie’s full-length “Midway” album will be released this summer in the States and Japan and I have to admit “A.M.” sounds pretty decent. At times it even reminds me a bit of some Kev Brown productions. I’m curious what “Midway” will sound like and what vocalists he’ll be working with.

Jonathan Kim shot this video while he was at sound check for his gig at the Elbo Room in San Francisco with funky worm Exile this past week. As they came into the venue, he saw Exile and Teeko jamming out on their respective equipment, and he was impressed to say the least. Teeko has been making some noise with his group F.A.M.E. as well as recently working with Mark Ronson in NY for his upcoming album. Exile is coming with his “Radio Remix” album so keep an eye out for that. Great to see two artists come together, and create some amazing music together.
Shlohmo‘s free online a release just got pimped the f*ck up by FoF Music and is now officially out as a digital release under the name “Shlomoshun Deluxe”. To really bring home the ‘Friends of Friends’ theme on this release, Shlohmo has invited Low Limit (of Lazer Sword), Fulgenace (Musique Large), Tokimonsta (Brainfeeder) and devonwho (Klipmode) to handle remix duties, acting as a brief showcase for Shlohmo and some of his people. Oh before I forget…go over to Boomkat or iTunes to purchase!

We’re back again with a tantalizing Fulgeance remix! Our croissant loving beat maker hooked us up with a remix he did for Shlohmo, a young cat coming out of Frisco. He recently released his “Shlo-Fi” EP via Error Broadcast and is well on his way to taking over the Bay Area. Now back to this Fulgeance remix. Check out “Antigravity” below and let us know what you think of this collaboration. Soon to be released on FOF Music and distributed by Alpha Pup (as digital EP).

Early this month I had the honor to meet the one and only B. Bravo and his little bro Kent. I really had fun with those guys and thanks for coming to the Beat Battle at the Rooms of Red Bull. Now I know the album art is not finished yet, but we just had to share this ill remix joint from the upcoming “Computa Love” EP that’s due on Fritenite. Glad we could be of help on your European trip and happy you met cats like DJ Lefto, Simbad, Morgan Zarate, Bullion, Floating Points, Flyherro, Chima, etc. Next time we’re in Frisco you know we’re doing an L.A. trip fo sho! In case ya’ll haven’t heard of B. Bravo before, please check out his last “Anolog Starship” release and buy it at Fritenite or iTunes while you’re at it.
