Earlier this month Jimetta Rose released her “The Barber’s Daughter”. Kinda late, but fashionably we bring this soothing soul album to your attention. You might know Jimetta from her work on Georgia Anne Muldrow‘s album and more recent from her feature on Shafiq Husayn‘s “Lost & Found” with Bilal on there as well. I know some of you heads have been waiting for this to drop and here it is. The instrumental album to Shafiq Husayn‘s “Shafiq En’ A-Free-Ka” album is now out on iTunes. Check out the instrumental to the song “All Dead” and be on the lookout for upcoming show dates as well as more music to come from Shafiq in 2010 (on Plug Research), including his work on Erykah Badu‘s upcoming album “New Amerykah Part 2″ (Return of the Ankh).

To end the year properly, we came up with the idea to sum up 2009 and let ya’ll know what we thought was epic and who ya’ll slept on. We would like to thank you all for staying loyal to the movement called Moovmnt and 2010 has a lot of newness in store for you. Our brand new website will launch early Januari, the Moovmnt Sampler releases will be dropping like hotcakes and Moovmnt TV is coming up.
Our Belgian homeboy Azer did a 2009 mix and it goes hard as you might guess. It’s a selection of some of his favorite tracks released in 2009. It was broadcasted on December 30, 2009 in the Laid Back Show on FM Brussel. Happy new year and see you on the flipside.

Tonight’s is your chance to finally meet the Eglo Records crew. Miss Fatima who you all should know by now, whether it be from the Red Bull Music Academy 2008, her recent features on Shafiq‘s “En’ A-Free-Ka” album or just from checking our website on a frequent base. Floating Points is another UK artist that has really been making noise in 2009. I remember him sending out “Love Me Like This” and I was like…yeah it’s sound okay. Months later I grew into the sound a lot more and when the “Vacuum” EP dropped I was sold.

Plug Research: Shafiq Husayn Podcast by Moovmnt
Thanks to Plug Research, we have another podcast for you straight from LA. A few weeks ago they released the Exile edition and now they present the Shafiq Husayn podcast, mixed by Garth Trinidad (of KCRW’s ‘Chocolate City’). This mix offers a great overview of Shafiq’s past, current and future works and features some exclusive/unreleased joints too.
