Madlib‘s “Medicine Show #9: Channel 85 presents Nittyville”, a full-length hip-hop album featuring Detroit’s Frank Nitt, will be out May 17 on Stones Throw as on CD as well as on limited edition 3/LP vinyl. Nittyville is also perhaps the most traditional of the series: one MC, one producer, and a rap record all about stunts, blunts and hip-hop. Enjoy this early leak of “What Can U Tell Me” featuring MED and pre-order if you like.

Always fly and swingin’ his hair to L.A.’s gentle spring time breeze. It’s the homie DaM-FunK aka the ambassador of Boogie Funk with some new freebie funk. Love the way he gets down on “Stayin’ Super Fly” which sounds extra crispy and sucka free. It was available on Damon’s Soundcloud, but he reached the maximum amount of downloads. Thought we’d upload it for all who missed out.

Few of you have ever heard of Tony Cook, yet some people call Tony’s “On The Floor” (released in ’84) the first house music record. Eventhough the sound of his music seemed to breathe New York, Tony was in fact from Georgia. After two and a half decades he finally releases his “Back To Reality” album on Stones Throw. If you’re into that Modern Funk, you’ll definitely love this album full of unreleased material and rare jams. Now available via Rush Hour or the ST store.
He got his start as James Brown’s drummer (while still a teenager) as soon as he graduated from school. He drummed off and on for James as well as Etta James, all the while recording his own music that sounded nothing like neither artist. Even though he’s released many 7” singles through his own label, none of these songs have ever been on a full album before, They’ve never been performed live either.

Now-Again Records presents Dimlite‘s new “My Human Wears Acedia Shreds” EP. The follow-up to “Prismic Tops” is evenly out there, but personally I liked the first better. The Swiss producer catches my attention with “Kitty Cradle Fog”, but as I skip through the rest I wonder if this is my cup of tea. Check this out for yourself and if you like it get the 10″ vinyl packaged in a tip-on, thick cardboard sleeve, the MP3 or the “mini-LP” CD package, exclusively available at the Stones Throw shop.

In 2008 Stones Throw created a triple 12-inch box set, all based around the Miami Winter Music party “Hella International”. Piet Parra did the sleeve. Madlib remixed two J Dilla tracks from Ruff Draft, “The $” and “Make ‘em NV” that appeared exclusively on this box set. Many of the other tracks – collabs between artists like Dam-Funk & Baron Zen, Four Tet & Aloe Blacc, Percee P & Koushik, Madlib & Karriem Riggins (as Supreme Team) – also appeared here first, and were later released the Chrome Children Vol. 2 CD. This remains the only vinyl release for most of these tracks and Stones Throw has a limited amount for sale again, so get a copy of this limited edition vinyl HERE!
