I gave it some thought, but decided to post a little something about the new Finest Ego compilation anyway. In all honesty this is one of the least interesting ones I’ve heard so far though. Since it was time for Germany, Austria and Switzerland to represent I had high hopes, but could only find a few mediocre productions on here. Might just be me being hard to please, but all I wanted to share with you guys was this beat from Chief. Much appreciation for the free download, but I hope in 2012 the compilations get better quality wise. Personally I’d rather hear 10 amazing productions than 33 mediocre ones. Free downloads available up till Jan. 6th so get it while it lasts.

Yesterday was the homie Donwill’s birthday and he has made it a tradition over the years to give away some music on his bornday. This year Don brings you “DPPLGNGR”, an EP fully produced by Berlin’s Suff Daddy. I think both don’t really need much of an introduction, so I’ll let the music speak for itself. Get the FreEP on Donwill’s Bandcamp page!

I remember Turntable Lab being one of the favorite spots we visited last summer during our little trip to LA. Apparently they also make free compilations containing music from various artists who’s music can bought in their online shop. We thought you’d might like to try “Secret Hangout” Vol.4 which contains a few nice joints. And of course…they’re free. So get your hq download on HERE and support if you like what you hear.

I remember meeting Suff Daddy at the Hi-Hat Club release party last year and one thing became clear. This guy loves his alcohol, weed and beats. So in search of some quality “‘Gnac” (cognac for you designated drivers) Suff embarked on a journey to Prague. Before Melting Pot releases his new single (Feb. 25th), a limited 5 x 7″ Suff Daddy box inlcuding all five 7″ singles will be sold exclusively via the MPM Store. The box set releases Feb. 11th and to get ya’ll tipsy here is the premiere of a nice video Robert Winter and Typoclique put together.
Last week Thesaurus Rex a.k.a. BoomBaptist sent us his “BoomBaptism Beat Tape” and we wanted to let ya’ll know about this cat. He’s worked with Dibiase, Devonwho, Suff Daddy, Portformat, Elaquent, Stevo and BUG, but as an MC. Now on the productional tip, he’s showcasing the beats he’s been making over the last year in the form of this beat tape. Visit his Bandcamp to check out the entire beat tape.

“The Gin Diaries” are about beats, love and Tanqueray. Suff Daddy is a gentleman who knows about the good life: Jamaican Kush, rare soul records and beautiful women make his day. And Suff Daddy ain’t no greedy man. On his new record, he shares his music with friends like Miles Bonny, Fleur Earth, Mariama, Mar and Jim Dunloop. We call “The Gin Diaries” a beat novel, consisting of 13 musical short stories. Some have lyrics and some have not but they are all snaphots of the life of Suff Daddy. “Özdemir” speaks about Suff’s penchant for Turkish breaks, “Vienna” reflects on a recent trip to Vienna and “Konnopke” is giving props to the best currywurst in Berlin. Whereas the songs with Miles, Fleur, Mariama and Mar deal with love, despair and everything in between. MPM

To end the year properly, we came up with the idea to sum up 2009 and let ya’ll know what we thought was epic and who ya’ll slept on. We would like to thank you all for staying loyal to the movement called Moovmnt and 2010 has a lot of newness in store for you. Our brand new website will launch early Januari, the Moovmnt Sampler releases will be dropping like hotcakes and Moovmnt TV is coming up.
Our Belgian homeboy Azer did a 2009 mix and it goes hard as you might guess. It’s a selection of some of his favorite tracks released in 2009. It was broadcasted on December 30, 2009 in the Laid Back Show on FM Brussel. Happy new year and see you on the flipside.

Berlin’s very own Suff Daddy is coming with a 2nd EP, but it won’t be out before this autumn. First he’ll be dropping an instrumental EP named “Hi-Hat Club” and another 7inch single (on Melting Pot Music??). I was really impressed by this new track, because we heard Suff get down and dirty on the “Nightmare“ remix before, but with “Deep Shit” it gets deeper than that. I love the whole laid back vibe and more to follow from this German cat!

A major label nightmare: Suff Daddy reworks two Detroit rap classic from Phat Kat & Dilla. His “Nightmare” remix was the winner of the Look records remix contest (but never saw the planned official release). “Game Over” – the Phat Kat / Dilla gem produced by Dabrye – is getting a mutant jazz re-rub. Limited promo only pressing…500 copies on Good Boy. Berlin producer Suff Daddy is best known for his releases with Odissee, Kissey Asplund and Miles Bonny on MPM.
