I won’t lie…honestly I’ve been waiting for this Slakah The Beatchild EP for weeks and finally got it in the mail today. Could this be one of the top 10 releases of 2010? Rarely have I encountered a 7-track EP that blew me away. Normally you find one or perhaps two good songs on an EP, if that. But “Something Forever” is 100% pure quality. No fillers, no intro + outro…nah just seven wonderful tracks that don’t even sound alike. Please pay attention to this release producers. This is how it should be done! In my opinion Slakah’s putting BBE on the map again. Of course I liked Ty’s album and I loved the fact that they re-released the Electric Wire Hustle album in Europe. But between all the good compilations they’re dropping, I’ve been really missing this fresh new sound out of the BBE camp. Trust me on this…you want to pre-order this one.

Today we visited HVW8 and bumped into Ty and Computer Jay’s girlfriend. Afterwards I-Ced and Black Spade (Hawthorne Headhunters) dropped by and we had a few beers and a whole lot of laughs. Really like this picture I took of them and Anthony Valadez. While he’s listening to and chopping up some Miguel Atwood-Ferguson piano play, I’m writing this. Thank you L.A. for anoher great day!
UK massive in the house. This Friday our big buddy TY and RBMA-ninja Kidkanevil are going to perform in the upstairs room of Amsterdam’s Paradiso. We were asked to host the evening and of course we said yes. MOOVMNT at PARADISO starts of with TY who’ll be performing a lot of new material of his brand new “Special Kind of Fool” album. To bring the transition from Hip Hop to more electronic styles of music, the little homie Jameszoo is going to play some tunes. I heard through the grapevine that he’s releasing his debut album later this year, but more info on that soon. To end the evening Kidkanevil is going to do a Live set with an whole array of different styles of electronic music. Keywords are wonky, dubby and who knows what else he’s got in store. If you were impressed by his “Basho Basho” album, come support this upcoming producer.
Not only do you get two live shows…you can also visit Oi! afterwards for FREE. Breakage, Distance, N-Type, Gomes & Brutuzz will be playing some bangin’ Dubstep in the main room downstairs in case you want to go apeshit till the break of dawn.

The time has finally come for Tyto drop his latest “Special Kind of Fool” album on us. The first single “Emotions” (click HERE to purchase) came out last month and contained some big names on the remixes. Waajeed was one of the producers on there, but my person fav was the Dego & Akwasi‘s 2000 Black Remix. We’ve been waiting for this to drop eversince we interviewed Ty last year before his show at the Bitterzoet in Amsterdam. This release is now available via and on CD via the BBE website, so show sum love for this Hip Hop veteran! Songs like “Heart Is Breaking”, “Get 2 The Sky”, “Me” and “Falling” are just incredible and show us that Ty still got it even after being in the game for so long. Definitely a worhty successor to “Closer” and this honestly sounds like a breath of fresh air.

You might already knew that big man Ty from London is dropping “Special Kind of Fool” on us somewhere April. It’s the tale of an artist who after ten years, three critically acclaimed albums, collaborations with the likes of Tony Allen, De La Soul, Damon Albarn and Estelle, a Mercury nomination amongst other accolades, and a worldwide army of fans, has always followed his heart. “Emotions” is the first single off the new album and there’s also going to be numerous wicked remixes of the track from 2000 Black, Daz-I-Que and Waajeed coming next month! Big ups BBE, Raj and Ty of course.

Vienna funkster The Clonious has recently remixed “Don’t Push Me” by TettoryBad and Ty. This track off TettoryBad’s debut album “Unite”, which will finally get a second worldwide release through Austrian label Sunshine Enterprises early next year, after having been released on Japanese label Jazzy Sport. A few weeks ago we met up with Ty and Erik Rico, who performed at ‘Straight Up Jazz’ @ the Bitterzoet in Amsterdam. In this in-depth interview, Ty talks about the hip hop in UK, sheds some light on his upcoming album “A Special Kind of Fool” and tells us how he never wanted UK rappers to ask him for beats. You’d better get you cup of tea, because this is a serious fifteen minute video. Again Joao Costa on camera and edit. We met with miss Muhsinah earlier this year in Rotterdam and shot some footage at her hotel. When we picked her up from the airport I asked her about her “The Oscillations: Triangle” album. We decided to get the forgotten footage out and piece together a short video especially for our Moovmnt visitors. Hope ya’ll like it and appreciate the effort we put into this.
