Tonight the final ‘Make a Living, Making Music’ producers workshops will take place at Club Up in Amsterdam. A Q&A will take place with Chilean producer fLako, who resides in Londen at the moment. This young producer recently took the step to make a living with making music. After the meet and greet we will listen to all the creations for the “Appelsap 10 years Commercial” and the winner will be announced. One of Holland’s biggest Hip Hop events is without a doubt Appelsap in the Oosterpark. This year they celebrate their 10 year anniversary and escpecially for creators of music, Appelsap has come up with the concept “Make a living, making music”. Next week three events will take place where young, talented producers (between the age of 16 and 26) are welcome to learn and create. Check out the details below..
Monday July 12th a meeting will take place at production company Sizzer. They will explain what kind of commercials they exactly do and how producing music for commercials exactly works. Here you’ll get a briefing about how to produce a track for the “Appelsap 10 Years Commercial” (shot by “Opslaan als”) and you will be guided by Sizzer as well. These guys have received several awards for their music productions including a Golden Lion in Cannes.
Location: Houtkopersdwarsstraat 3
Time: 16.00-18.00
Wednesday July 14th Ivo Bol will give a workshop about the use of the junXion software developed by Steim. JunXion is a Mac OSX data routing application that can process ’sensors’ from any HID (joysticks, mice, touchscreens), MIDI, OSC, Audio, Arduino and Video device using conditional processing and remapping, with MIDI or OSC events as its output. The workshop will be focussed on the use of JunXion to use USB and Wii controllers as mid-controllers in combination with music or VJ hardware/software (like Ableton). In a hands-on session we’ll basically learn how to use game controllers as musical instruments. Bring your own Mac with prefered software and headphones with you. If you have any USB game controllers (joysticks) or Wii controllers bring them as well so you can put together a next level ‘live-performance’.
Location: Overtoom 301 (in the Cinema, 2nd floor)
Time: 12.00-15.00
Bring: Game controllers (USB), Mac platform with music software (if you do not have this, let us know well in advance), headphone.
Friday July 16th a Q&A will take place with Chilean producer fLako, how resides in Londen at the moment. This young producer recently took the step to make a living with making music. After the meet and greet we will listen to all your creations for the “Appelsap 10 years Commercial” and the winner will be announced. The winner will be rewarded the junXion Software and eternal fame of course.
Location: Club-up
Time: 21.30-23.00 (followed up by Poespas party with live-set by fLako)
Bring: Laptop
We would like to invite you to join us and sign up for these three workshops by sending an email (containing your name + contact info) to lynn@appelsap.net. Producers who want to participate in all three workshops have priority over the rest. Make sure you reply before friday, because there’s only a limited amount of participants. In the meanwhile enjoy this joint of the Beatnicks Vol. 3 release.

UpMyAlley is dropping the third installment of their producer compilation series “Beatnicks Vol. 3″. This six-track EP contains music from Powell, O.Boogie, Desto, fLako & Berghem, Rez and ex RBMA participant Ki En Ra. The guys over at UpMyAlley hooked us up “Way Back” of Ki En Ra’s “City of Moment” EP available on OneSense Music. The Estonian teams up with SelfSays on this one (who can make something out of nothing). Enjoy and give Beatnicks Vol. 3 a try…it got some heat on it. Pressed as Limited Edition handsprayed vinyl (probably limited to 500 copies) and available for pre-order at Rush Hour.

In 2007, UpMyAlley dropped the first volume of their Beatnicks Series featuring upandcoming producers such as fLako, Powell, Rustie, Hubert Daviz and others. Next month volume 3 will be dropping on vinyl through Rushhour and in anticipation of this release Powell (Paris) and UpMyAlley labelhead Dip Some from Cologne will be playing at the “Beatnicks Vol. 3″ Pre-Release Party in Amsterdam alongside O.Boogie, Brutuzz and Giographic. In the meantime we received this exclusive leak in the form of Powell’s “AOC Remix” for fellow French producer Tayreeb and make sure not to miss his Live set at the Bitterzoet tomorrow!

Our friends at Skip Intro contacted us with some nice inside info about a producer who is no stranger to Moovmnt. We wanted to shine some more light on this beat maker and the fact he’ll be performing in Amsterdam…so be prepaired to be enlightened.
Born in Chile and now living in both Berlin and London, fLako is one of Europe’s most promising producers at this moment. Whoever you ask within the electronic/beat world will definetely agree. He contributed the banging “Inside” to UpMyAlley’s “Beatnicks Vol.2 Sampler” and drew worldwide attention on his production skills in 2008/2009 with his “Vortex Cookies Remix”, a track that made any head at any venue in any city in Europe bang like crazy, and has been championed by beat/dubstep pioneers such as Gaslamp Killer, HudMo, Jay Scarlett and others.
fLako who is a close member of the UpMyAlley family hasn’t been playing his trademark set of dancefloor killers live that often, being quite selective in what gigs to play.. So far only Vilnius, Cologne, Vienna and London had the honour of having this guy smashing things to bits&pieces live. Amsterdam is next on the map, don’t miss out on this one. November 13th fLako will make you spill your beer, because you won’t be able to stand still once he starts off! Come witness this all and watch fLako kill it live during SKIP INTRO at the Flexbar in Amsterdam. Our buddy Full Crate will be rocking the party as supportive DJ together with Ebokai, O.Boogie & Shady. Also make sure to check out Skip Intro #5, featuring some of fLako’s joints next to other bassheavy hitters.

Our Berlin buddy fLako does it once again. He brings you this ill double trouble release featuring soulstress Amenta from Canada. Personally I love “04500″, but the B-side “Do You” isn’t really my cup of tea. Nice free release nevertheless and be sure to download this double hitter HERE!!

Our man in Cologne Hubert Daviz (featured on both Beatnicks Volumes)
has been abandoning daylight lately and got acquainted with his fresh off the ebay
shelve MPC2500 + MicroKorg, starting to gear up.
The result of his first month with the new toys and a slab of dusty vinyl
is what we have here, our first Beatnicks Tape (nostalgia we like, sometimes).
12 deeep instrumental beat journeys that sound ohso promising considering the
fact he entirely produced on equipment he was yet unfamiliar with. Someone to watch out forfor sure, listen don..t sleep Beatnicks
